This is not my favourite month. I dislike when the clocks go back, iits a sign that we are in for 3 1/2 months of dark winter. There's no public holidays. When I was a kid, November used to drag and make christmas seem so far away. My grandma, grandad and dad all died in November. And it features fireworks night, which leaves me cold. Yuck...

Seriously though, I agree it's pretty dismal. Even worse when you have so many losses to associate with it.

Maybe we should have arranged the POL night out for November so you had something to look forward to. 'Specially for you, mind.

I like November!

To me it means the onset of winter - which I love! Cold mornings, frost, ice and maybe even snow!

Loads of my family (including my wife and I) have birthdays which fall between November and January, so there are always lots of celebrations and parties at this time of year for us, including the obvious Xmas ones!

I love November also

We have six birthdays between the 20th nov and end on the 21st dec lots of parties and the build up to xmas

The kids count down the birthdays to santa coming and can't wait till the last one is over and then there is only four sleeps left untill the man himself comes

there was 4 off us due on xmas day but not one off us could wait that long

I think November is OK but with regard to birthdays, December was the month where most of them fall for us. Before death intervened, we had the following 7:

5th - dad and cousin
6th - sister
8th - grandad
12th - mum
17th - auntie
22nd - me

For the record, I quite like November because I get all my Xmas shopping done and nobody I know has died

Not heard of anything official or that, but there are usually several groups of people with bonfires/fireworks at this time of year along the beach.

not sure, probably. We get a great firework display from the windows of our flat

They have great bonfires and jigging on the prom on Hogmanay - its wonderful!

Be warned though, up until about 8.30 it's fine then over the next half hour it turns into some kind of lawless battle ground. This usually involves chucking bangers and rockets at people and burning tyres. Oh well at least there's something for everyone.
