Cheers - most are of the sunset sort, so it'll at least be a theme! Any particular preference on resolution/filesize? They're 2048*1536 just now - so I guess something smaller - 1024*768?
Came across these pics of Portabello and Joppa today:

Our own Alex is far too modest to brag about his photography skills so I will plug his website for him :

A selection of wangi's photography has now been added to our Galleries section. Beautiful sunsets - makes you wish you lived there. Oh yeah, we do!
You too can have your photos featured on the site - just email them to us.

Thanks Bob. If anyone wants the full-sized versions (backdrops/wallpaper?) then just drop me a note.

I flew back from Italy on Sunday - on arrival at EDI my tripod hadn't made it, no suprise really since I wanted to take it as hand carry but it's a weapon so had to go in the hold. Turns out it got delivered yeasterday to an "old women" a "few" doors down and they didn't even leave a card or know which house number...
Quality. Good way to meet the neighbours!
[EDIT] Just talked to the couriers again and it was delivered to Seaview Ter, not even the right street! Will have to get writing that letter to BA...

I've a few Porty shots that you might enjoy. Just click the link below
www.visionsofscotland.com
and go to the Portobello gallery

Only after the last tree has been cut down, only after the last river has been poisoned, only after the last fish has been caught, only then will you find, that money cannot be eaten.

Nice, I'll have to get out of my bed early someday to get some sunrise shots!

My guess is that this is an integral part of the tidal sculpture work-in-progress thingy. It is deeply symbolic of our ephemeral, throwaway society in that the entire work is constructed of materials that have been left behind by utilities companies and rescued from where they have been dumped in the Figgate Burn. In this sense, modern art is indeed rubbish.

"Mr Starr?"
"Yes?"
"Inspector Rebus here. I'm afraid your missing person has turned up dead."
"Dead......how?"
"He seems to have been incorporated into some bizarre .... no, I'm going to have to make some further inquiries in East Edinburgh before I get back to you."

Actually as it turns out Bob is right - it's part of the BTOTB tidal sculpture! It's an air compressor which when the sea reaches a certain level will pump air to raise the "pink things" above the water... Also some 20 (i think) more pink thingies are to be added this week.
And a random photo from today:

. Took some others at
Newhailes House and some overshadowing
self portraits.

No, it's not. It's a miniature submarine with some stranded tiny defecting Soviet sailors in it - like "The Hunt For Red October" meets "The Borrowers".
If you look closely at the conning tower you can even see the lookout.

Nice pics from Newhailes Wangi.
It's a really nice walk to there from Portobello.
We usually walk up via Brunstane Road North/South and then follow the Brunstane Burn walk from opposite the Station. En route you can peek over the hedge at the folks who live in their own wee Utopia ( the four or five houses set behind Milton Road East complete with their own mini golf course and acres of manicured lawns). From the end of the Burn walk you can access the Newhailes grounds.
The stable block has a nice National Trust shop and a cafe where some of the tables are set out in the actual stables themselves. The stalls are now of course minus horses and fully cleansed and whitewashed and it makes for unusual surroundings in which to have a cuppa. There is also a fairly sizeable garden centre too.

I've been trying to put together a decent panorma shot for an age now... Software wise i've been frustrated to say the least! Managed to get something half decent just now from my trip out on the sands at Mussleburgh early Sunday AM:

Zoomed in a bit:

Will try again at some point with tripod shots i've got of Portobello beach and towards out to Fife...

Here is my attempt at a panorama - wangi, when you say software, does it just match the bits up or does it adjust the colours as well? Any recommendations?

Here are a couple of BTOTB pics I took on Monday.
They look as if they're crawling on to the beach to spawn in this one...

That last one's easily the best I've seen of the "installation"! The yellow/peach sky really does look good behind the pink.
Don't know if i'll sleep now - those things are going to crawl out of the sand and strangle me!
