Craft Fairs in Edinburgh - Are you interested?

Post by Silver Ruby » 21 Oct 2006, 19:44

Hello everyone,

I am in the process of organising craft fairs in Edinburgh for 2007.

One of the venues will be Portobello Town Hall, among others.

Would you be interested in being a stallholder at these fairs?

Many thanks,

Fiona

I wish I was creative enough but know someone who might be interested. Do you have any more details?

Hi Sandra,

I'm trying to gauge interest at the moment.

The first fair would be about March/April.

We're looking for all types of crafts, and anyone can take part, whether your craft is your business or a hobby.

I'm working on the website for this at the moment, and I'll post the address when it's ready.

Thanks,

Fiona

Fiona. you might want to speak to Maggie Le May who is running the Xmas arts/crafts fair in the Community Centre. I'm sure that some of the people taking part in this might also be interested in your event.

Hello rapunzell,

Do you make any crafts yourself?

Hi, I'd also be interested in finding out more about the fairs and the possibility of becoming a stall holder. It's a great idea, for a while now I've thought that something like this would go down really well in Portobello.

Hullo!

I mainly paint and print, but am currently eyeing up a box of spare craft materials and having some 3D ideas :D

I think Porty & I should organize a "crafty" stall where we wind everyone up and, if it gets quiet, argue with each other. Marya can stand in between us with her arms folded, tutting. I'm sure that even if we aren't creative, we'll definitely create.

Next door I'll be running a "herbs and wisdom" stall which will be giving sage advice.

(Fiona - the best of luck with your event, keep us posted. It would be magic if there were some POL stallholders)

Hello everyone,

Just like to ask you all a few questions:

When would you like the first fair to be?
I wanted to wait a couple of months after Christmas, so would March or April be better?

What time would suit people better?
9am - 2am / 10am - 2pm?

Lastly, how often would you like to see a craft fair in Portobello?

Thanks for your help!

Fiona

I love going to craft fairs but unless you can ensure a bit of variety of stall holders I reckon you wouldn't want them too often. Every 2/3 months?

I'd prefer 10 - 2.00 and March would be good!

Down here craft fairs used to be a bit hit and miss until we combined the craft fair with the Farmers Market and hold it every month. The farmers market pulls the punters in and the crafty people benefit from the extra trade.
I have nothing to say and I'm going to say it.

Do we have enough allotment types to stage our own urban farmers market?

March seems like a good aim. 12 till 4 is my favourite sales pitch, but 10 till 2 is fine.

August would be a good time for additional tourist punters, especially if we get stalls on the prom 8), and a fair to sell things for Christmas would be my other favourite.
