I quit

Post by Bob Jefferson » 16 Aug 2006, 21:32

As of 15 August I have resigned as a Moderator on all Portobello Online forums. I believe this to be in the best interests of everyone concerned, not least myself. Paula (Bellybabe) and Maria (Marya) remain in post and may decide to recruit further moderators as they see fit. I’m sure that they will continue to do an excellent job to the best of their ability.

The moderation of this type of forum is a thankless and difficult, if not impossible, task. Ladies, I wish you well and I hope and expect that all forum users will support you.

Bob I'm not aware of the reasons behind this decision, but I'm sure you've thought it through in view of what happened last time you tried to resign, and were bulldozed into reconsidering

Will you still have an administrative role or will you just be "joe poster" like the rest of us

Yeah, I'm still admin but most issues are sorted out at moderator level and I don't expect that to change.

Hey Bob

Thanks for all you've done.

There's no way this forum would have been as successful as it is without all your very hard work.

Enjoy the freedom!

So not so much "quit" as redefined??? I hope so. Most boards I go on have rabid admin/mods who are complete jackasses you wouldn't go for a drink with.

You have a lighter touch than most and I for one, appreciate that! Take a bow ... and get off the stage before they make you sing! :D

Awwwe, that's a shame!!! :(
Know I've never met you but somehow used to seeing you here as moderator and someone in authority, so felt " respect" for you, still will as you continue to be administrator. But that said, it must've been quite hard work and time consuming for you and sometimes it can affect family life and take up much of your spare time! A big resposability!!!! I wish you the best of luck for the future and many thanks for all you've done for the forum :)
Look forward to your future postings :thumbright:
Why be scared????

I feel your pain, it's not easy being the Head Honcho, the Grande Fromage :) However, I hope you can still stay in touch with the forum.

That's a nice sentiment Andy. For me? I'm hoping that Bob can stay in touch with the planet

Trust me, it's from the heart. I run a similar forum and I know where he's coming from.

Sorry Scorpion ... I misread your name and wondered why you were contacting Bob with a name like Any Knight!!

Bob is doing very well if you check the Leaderboard of the quizzes ...

Forums (fora?) do not need multiple moderators. :D

Believe me, this one does!

I actually meant the threads of the board don't need multiple mods ... sorry ... I should've been more specific. One mod per thread is usual, isn't it?

Obviously (even to me) a board needs many mods ... But can I make a case for the rockers?? :D

The forums/fora thing was a joke that seems to backfire on me ... like onions ... every time! Either no-one gets it ... or they do but ignore it??
