Meet Cleopas

Post by Dadaist » 21 May 2006, 08:45

Here's a thread dedicated to everyone's favourite "anarchist" Cleopas.

Here we can ask Cleo - oops - questions about his/her life, experience, book collection, and other fun stuff.

Cleopas - introduce yourself - are you a boy or a girl? How old are you? Where in Porty do you stay?

How did you find our site?

You're certainly a breath of fresh something!

Cleopas

I am male ... and I am gay. Sorry girls. And HELLO-O boyth!!! I am also AVAILABLE!

I'm old enough to know better, and young enough to ignore that advice. Tut tut ... asking a gay boy how old he is. Where ARE your mannerth?

I myself do not live in Porty, but my auntie lives in Baileyfield and I visit so much I feel like I'm a resident. My sister also lived just off the Promenade for 5 years. I've been going to Porty since I was knee-high to a gnu, and it feels like home ... so I can't sit on your council ... sorry, you have to have a resident president! I am looking at moving home quite soon ... closer to Porty in fact. Let me know if there are any beachfront properties available. Presently, I am in transition (which is not a location ... at least not on THIS planet!) I know I do not want to be in an American town called Gunpoint ... apparently there's lots of people being held there!

I was directed to your site by someone I've never met ... how's that for an intro? But, it is by far the best forum I have seen for a long time. You all appear to get on well ... and that is a miracle in Internet terms.

As you may have gathered, I have been involved in theatre and film, here and abroad. I have a teaching degree, but no faith in the present schools or college systems. I want to change it all from top to bottom.

I have around 6000 books since I am an avid reader and collector of trivia. I like modern music, Snow Patrol, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, The Zutons, Franz Ferdinand, Kaiser Cheifs, Kings of Leon, Arctic Monkeys ... but also appreciate the great musical movements since the 60s. I don't like pre 60s music much, but I prefer classical music with the greats, Ripperkorstetsoff, Beefoven, Brahmsanliszt, and the great PDQ Bach (1712 Overture) ... I like song parodies very much and am a huge fan of Tom Lehrer (The Masochist Tango, Poisoning Pigeons in the Park).

I certainly hope I'm not a breath of the something that wafts and perfumes the air of Seafield!

As for politics, I follow the maxim "Anyone who wants to be a poilitician should be barred from becoming one!" (I know I spelled it Poilitician ... that was deliberate ... they'e all oily, self-serving, greedy Tories at heart!)I have never met one I would call a freind. Same goes for religion ... I despise all religions equally. But I will defend your right to believe in whatever rubbish you follow to the death.

Aleister Crowley (1875-1947) (a much maligned and misunderstood man) said it best ... "Do as thou wilt shall be the whole of the law" ... unfortunately most people end it there ... but it goes on ... "Love is the Law, Love under Will!" My hero in Anarchy. And of course, anarchy does not mean chaos.

People should read more about it ... I could tell you about it, but it's better if you learn for yourself.

Umm ... is that it? Can I go for lunch now Dada ... Mama says I can!

Welcome to you Cleopas and you are breath of fresh air. Thanks for all of the personal information too it makes interesting reading. Particularly for Dada as he may be revising his approach as I type. :D

For the life of me I don't understand why you don't move to Porty? Given that your moving anyhow. Its great here. lots of interesting people and as you say; we all get along well.

I'm a 47 yo heterosexual without any teaching qualifications. However, i did have a place at Moray House back in 1982. I was due to start the course on the Monday but arrived at the same conclusion as you on the Friday before and pulled out.

So what other forums have you posted on, Cleopas?

Cleopas

Post by Cleopas » 21 May 2006, 16:35

Too many to list here. And not always in my own name.

Tell me stuff about yourself ... aren't these boards all about sharing? It's all been one way so far ...

This is the meet Cleopas thread. You've come on here with an opinion on everything but whilst you're welcome to ask anyone on the board about me, we don't have any 3rd parties around to ask about you do we?

So tell us some of the boards that you are a big poster on.

Is it odd that I don't see a Meet Dadaist, or Meet Ali, or Meet Arachnid, or Meet Sandra, or Meet Izzie, or Meet Porty, or Meet Bob Jefferson thread anywhere? Or am I over-reacting?

Can it be I'm the strange kid who's come into the park two minutes ago, where everyone else has been playing all day and they're all standing looking at him because he's an unknown quantity? They don't know me and I don't know them. But does this mean I can't play in "their" park? Or is that suspiciousness I discern coming at me?

I'm happy to tell people all about me ... but that's a two-way street and I think I've shared enough to warrant a little back.

As for opinions, yeah I've got hundreds ... don't you?

BTW ... Cleopas is my given name. And yes it IS Biblical in origin ... My grandfather "BibleBrain" insisted on it!

Until I get to know more of you, I think I'm allowed to stay as anonymous as I like, aren't I? Or is that not allowed by the admin? Of course, I'm happy to tell ALL to admin who runs and operates the site ... but, where do the rest come in the pecking order? And what rights do they have to interrogate newbies like me? I know I'm at the bottom of the pool here ... but I learned to swim in Porty Baths when I was six. And I know how to make a splash! :)

I wasn't here at the time but I imagine the above statement could have cut and paste out of dada's own POL biography. :D :D

I did a Social Work Course in Moray House in '92. Well, I say did ... I mean started ... well, I say started, I mean I left after the first term because I knew more (and better) than the tutors did. Besides, I got a gig abroad. Much better than studying. Besides, all my Social Worker jokes weren't going down too well. I wasn't P.C. enough.

I LOVE your avatar btw Porty. I have some pics of cats with strange headgear in my collection of wierd pics. Some pet-owners should be crucified. My neighbour has a cat called Stew-art. I keep threatening to turn it into a delicious casserole with a recipe my ancestors used.

Yes that was me.

Do you mean why did I say you may be revising your approach? If so? I meant that you would be digesting the info provided by Cleopas and deciding what strategy to deploy in the inevitable amd imminent "debate" that will be upon us before much longer. Am I wildly mistaken?

Actually yes, you're mistaken.

I sincerely doubt an A to Z would help me much in this instance. Dadaist put up this thread (I believe) as an homage to my lovely self ... and now it's been hijacked for what looks like petty bickering ... I don't mind petty bickering ... but can it be about ME please?? :D I thank you.

Too true....

And roll those loaded dice

And put the champagne on ice"
