Met long-time-no-post Jay on the bus briefly tonight. She only gets access to internet at library and too busy with her email for us (huh)!!
Seriously, she does miss POL and sends her best wishes.

Pah!
That's just not good enough, I'm afraid. You should have got her told in no uncertain terms to get back on here pronto.
Jay was responsible for my favourite thread title ever on here.
remember this?

That thread must have been before my (POL) time. I enjoyed reading it and I knew about the dog, one of my friends used to throw it's ball back to it. Not sure if it still stays there or not..................will find out

This will sound a bit (

) daft but that story made me so sad for the dog...

so I'm glad its ruse was sometimes successful

While sitting on the top deck of the bus this morning a large dog popped it's head over a high garden wall of a property next to the bus stop we were at. It had a plastic ball in it's mouth which it placed very carefully on the cope and then nudged very gently, with it's nose, forward towards the people standing in the queue.
The ball then rolled very slowly until it fell off onto the pavement. The dog looked in anticipation at those at the bus stop, but no-one picked it up and threw it back over! As we drew away the dog looked totally gutted.
If anyone sees a plastic ball in the gutter on Joppa Road next to a bus stop, please throw it back over so the dog can start the weekend happy too.
I loved this story about the dog

But felt sorry for it too - dogs have feelings you know.

I'm just joshing. I love doggies.
As for the riddle, I just thought that maybe she thought her sister was a huge pain in the butt and deserved to die.

Our dog, Noosa, became ill early last Thursday morning and we had to let the vet put her to sleep. So we've all been feeling a bit sad here since then as she was a great dog and a great friend. We still expect to see her when we get up in the morning and for her to tell us it's time to make a cup of tea so that she can have a biscuit or two or more!!! The house is so empty without her in it!!

Why be scared????

Wondered where you'd been, A. Not a lot one can say, but extend sympathy.

So sorry to hear that, Arachnid, I just dread the day that something happens to Freddie, he's thirteen now so I can't help thinking about it and getting morbid at times. They are just such a huge part of your lives.
You must have loads of happy memories though to help you through this sad time.

Freddie is one of my first and very happy memories of moving to Portobello - used to smile when he appeared on his stick legs on the Prom like a clockwork toy. Little did I know I'd get to know his mummy via the 'net!!

I had a quick chat with Freddie earlier tonight on the Prom. He's gorgeous.
Next time I see him I'm gonna tell him what you said about his clockwork legs.

Doncha just love his ears flapping as he clockworks along (has no knees, you know!

). For a dog, he's not bad.

Indeed, Bess tried to take a chunk out of Freddie's side last time they met

When my niece was wee a cat lived next door to my mum and dad - a gorgeous, rather large tabby cat and my mum was giving Amy her breakfast when she said "look gran there's a donkey in the garden".
