Especially for Alix..and the amusement of Porty

John Silver was born in Arisaig on 2 January 1853. As a young man he went to work on the construction of the lighthouse at Barrahead. The lighthouse designer was Thomas Stevenson, father of Robert Louis. Silver met Robert Louis on a few occasions. Local legend has it that Robert Louis Stevenson took the name for his character in Treasure Island
So he didn't come from Portobello after all!

Alix- was that the bird that kept repeating the request for a LJS memorial?
She did not claim that LJS was from portobello but that he lived here for a short while.
One concern I have about a LJS memorial plack (sp); how do we ensure that its an original and not a pirate copy?
