After a slight incident here at six this morning, the polis said there's been a spate of burglaries and car crime in Portobello recently, and that it might be a good idea to let local people know so they can be vigilant. They also responded very quickly, and said it was important we'd called them in - so I know we've all had mixed responses from the polis in the past but they are keen to hear from us.

The police have just attached a notice to a lamp-post in my street, basically saying watch out tea-leafs are operating in this area. How re-assuring

You've lost me. What does social class have to do with seamanship?

Ah. I was worried for a minute that I was walking out the wrong side of my gate each morning and that the Joneses might notice. It's stressful enough living here at Dada Towers - having to keep your curtains open and closed at the right times and all - I just couldn't cope with another social convention!

Pointless, they won't work. In fact even that's a bit like poppy.
