Punjabi Haggis

Post by teddygirl » 19 Jan 2006, 23:04

An interesting article in tonights Evening News has a Portobello connection.Jagdish Kaur one of the women who came up with the idea of curried haggis lives in the area.
She has already treated us(at work) to some of her lovely cooking when she brought us various traditional foods for Diwali.
The recipe for the haggis is printed in the EN and it sounds yummy. :D

Maison Bleu do Haggis Balls, which are essentially Haggis Pakora and they are delicious., small but perfectly formed.

Don't know if any of you have eaten there but I've been more than 10 times and have had good meals each time. Surprise Calamari is divine.

Suruchi too in Constitution Street do haggis pakora as well as delicious salmon tikka. Their menu is also partly written in Scots dialect, with other scottish slants to the dishes.

We went to the original suruchi for the West Brighton Crescent night out a couple of years ago. Food is great and staff are so friendly.
