Dont know if this has been mentioned so apologies. We (at work) had a note through the door. The council (or one of its subcontractors) will be redoing the entire junction.
It will be closed full stop (apart from pedestrians and emergency vehicles) and they mentioned that there is no alternative route, ha ha ha.
The order last from 9 January to 5 December but they reckon it will take 56 days to complete.
There will also be no parking all around the junction.
While I work right on the junction, it wont bother me too much but it will be interesting to see how the roads cope with this bad boy being shut down.
I am sure someone can dig out the official council stuff from somewhere bt this is what I remember from reading it last week.
Time to defrost the bike me thinks.
Junction of Eastfield & Milton Road East & Musselbur
Ed - this from Maureen Child's latest newsletter today
PopsEastfield Junction
Improvements to the junction at Musselburgh Road and Eastfield are taking place early in the New Year, starting 9 January at a cost of around £100,000. There will be temporary traffic regulation orders in force to prohibit parking on Milton Road East and Eastfield/Musselburgh Road, as and when necessary. I know this will cause inconvenience to local residents, but the gain should be worth the pain. The improvements include a controlled pedestrian crossing, for the first time at this junction, and traffic lights at Eastfield Place. People have been asking for this kind of improvement for some time.
