Computer Fairy wanted
Computer Fairy wanted
Do we have any I.T geeks on the forum? I'm a bit of a computer donkey and from time to time, my computer and I don't understand each other. Like tonight, some annoying message keeps appearing on the screen about Adobe and I just want it to go away. aaaaaarggggghhh. I was just thinking it would be helpful to have someone in the know to put me out my misery every now and then. It's usually pretty simple stuff and it's only a wee laptop. So any computer fairies out there?

computer woes
Fairy Bob...you will be hearing from me.
COMPUTERS
Nah, it's not that simple. Adobe 5 is happily installed on my computer but the software for my scanner uses Adobe 7 and it's that that's not loading on properly. I'll get the exact wording that's coming up on my screen and the first one to sort it out gets a sweetie.
STARTER FOR 10
Okay Fairies...stand by...
My computer - a new one - is starting up with the message 'Adobe Acrobat 7.0 Elements. The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable. Enter an alternative path to a folder containing the install package Elements msi in the box. '
When I try to get it off my screen, it says, 'Error 1706. No valid source could be found for Adobe Acrobat 7.0 elements. The Windows Installer cannot continue'
I'll tell you what, computers test your patience.
Any ideas?

Given that you're online and that your internet connection is working, try running Windows Media Player.
Right-click on the menu bar at the top of the Media Player window and select "File" then "Open URL"
In the "Open URL" window, paste in the following :
http://83.149.101.8:8004
Tell me if this works!

radio free porty
Still 'radio free' despite following instructions. The message that comes up is;
'Windows Media Player cannot connect to the server. The server name might not be correct, the server mightnot be available or your proxy settings might not be correct'
What's all that about then dadaist?
