man flu sympathy thread

Post by Dadaist » 26 Sep 2005, 16:32

I have a very small dose of man-flu, the kind that stoic women struggle on with but which puts blokes in bed. I have come home from work with my Beechams and a pathetic attitude. Despite the fact that other people on the board have had real things wrong, I feel that there's something about man-flu which means I can ask for your sympathy. Please can I have your sympathy.

You have my sympathy Dadaist, as a fellow ex-sufferer of the dreaded man-flu. Which, as all men know, is one of the most virulent, debilitating diseases known to man-kind.......but not woman-kind - lucky them.

Sympathy extended, Dadaist.

If only woman realised the agony that man must endure, perhaps the world would be a kinder, brighter place.

Thank you my brothers in suffering. I'm going to make sure I get as much sympathy as possible from BB before I tell her I have eaten the last white choc-chip cookie.

You see? You just can't ever win. Go shopping and its "oh you were well enough to buy the milk and cook the dinner". Don't go shopping and its "oh so you just sat around on your lazy ass talking to journalists all day" (this isn't what BB would/will say, more what *women in general* say)

I just cooked sausage hotpot for BB whilst drinking my beechams and a cup of coffee and simultaneously fretting about keeping my dj roster happy, the press, and still managed to hoover my carpet in time for BB and neo-BB coming home to crawl on it. And I fed the cat. I believe I have earned my spurs today as a community member, husband, father and argumentative whiner.

I'm normally quite cosmopolitan and liberated, but this thread is most definitely battle of the sexes and I am batting for the blokes. You lot are from venus. I'm going to buy some darts, pigeons and a whippet.

Covonia night-time or Benalyn overdose.

You can't muck about with night-nurse cos it's got paracetamol in it, but diphenhydramine is fine - knock yourself out!

I don't know if it's karma or what, but I now have an anniversary dose of man flu.

There's no way I'm taking more Covonia Night-Time like last night. I had 5 big spoonfuls and existed in this sort of nasty semi-conscious state for much of the night.

Tonight is booze night.

What's the recipe for a hot toddy? I have plenty of cheap whisky in the house.
