Changes to guidelines- question for the mods

Business; the change is obvious but I'm struggling to see the need.

Profanity: what changes have been made here? I can't see the difference.

Can you explain?

The new ruling about not advertising is not a negative response, but rather a pro-active one to raise awareness of and to encourage people to use the new business directory.

The only change to the ruling on the profanity filter is to remind posters that they should not be circumventing it and (this is the new bit) that posts will be edited when this occurs or removed if the poster persists.
The filter remains as it was; no new words have been added.

...And is in fact not a new one. We had a similar guideline before but it was lost when the site was reset; we have simply put it back in.

A simple rule of thumb is to think about what language you wouldn't use around kids...or even words you don't like hearing kids use. This is a community forum and children are part of our community...it's mostly common sense, apart from the odd word that the filter thinks is an attempt to swear when it might not be!

Marya, i distinctly recall that when I asked for the profanity filter to be removed as an experiment and POL contributours trusted to behave. You protested that you had neither time or inclination to police every post and edit unsuitable ones. How does that fit with the above statement?

I would like the phrase "Tony Blair" added to the profanity filter, because what he sanctioned in Iraq and Afghanistan was obscene.

Must get my eyes tested - I keep thinking the title of this thread is "questions for the neds".

Which is silly as it is doubtful that many neds feel the need to be able to read.
