"Ring of Fire" variety (really!). We only got one chilli last year, but this years crop is coming on well.

Oh you dancer. Skeely that is fantastic.

What a great photo too. Have you grown any of the seeds from the chillis? Was the original plant itself from a seed?

And as a general question, how many times can you grow plants from the seed of their fruit without the flowers being pollinated / whatever - do you end up with sterile plants?

I know chuff all about the biology of it.

Also, Skeely, do you dry or preserve your chillis?

I'm afraid I can't tell you much about the biology myself, but it's good to know there'll be more chilli pollen floating about Porty. We were given it as a seedling early last year. I've not dried any yet, but I'll have enough this year to try. I suppose leaving them out in the sun would do it.

Our solitary chilli last year was turned into "chillied eggs on crispy rocket salad". I've got a great chilli recipe book - ask me for a loan when you get your first crop.

Ali has been growing and harvesting jalapenos for the last 4 years now. He puts his chillies into brown paper bags and leaves them in the airing cupboard for a few weeks and then puts them into jars.
We use them all year round.

He makes a mean chilli jam if anyone would like the recipe. Goes great with cheeses, all meats and, my favourite, black pudding rolls.

I like the sound of the chilli jam so yes please

I would like the recipe. I'm not up for growing the chillis so will just have to use shop bought ones.
I love a black pudding roll too but have never had it "spicy".
