Olympic Bidding

Post by foxy » 06 Jun 2005, 19:50

As much as I love and value the Olympic Games, I find the bidding system and the amount of money spent by the various countries competing for the right to hold the event disgusting.

The way that the IOC are deliberating their choice is so incredibly pompous and must be wide open to corruption

I may be naive, but why can't they just put the names in a hat and then carry the losers forward to next time if they still want to be included, instead of having to start all over with a new bid

I felt the same way with Scotland's bid to host Euro 2008 :?

Raffles are seen as a form of gambling by many religions, a hat lottery would therfore be unacceptable, in fact quite inflammatory.
