the great dada wallpaper hunt

Post by Dadaist » 22 May 2005, 13:41

so mrs dadaist and myself are now going to rush over to murrayfield B&Q, as we have managed to source 6 rolls of the now discontinued Lawrence Llewelyn Bowen "desire" beige wallpaper

hopefully :

1. it's the right ones
2. the batches are of a similar shade
3. we can nash back to the newcraighall superstore and nab their remaining 4 rolls after we have succeeded with 1. and 2.
4. nobody buys them in the meantime

neo-dadaist has been fed and watered. decorator is standing by. cross your fingers.

Dada hope you remembered it's the Heiniken Cup at Murrayfield today and the traffic in that area is horrible. It's busy all over town in fact, with the football at Easter Road as well. I know cos I've just slogged through it :(

Hope you succeed in your wallpaper quest. It must be special

Yes, we saw them - thanks for the warning!

For a moment I thought they were all going to B&Q to buy discontinued wallpaper.

Thought I'd take a wee neb at what the wallpaper looks like on the net. Word of advice folk, don't type in Desire+wallpaper to Google

Mind you when I did find a site displaying a wallpaper designed by LLB, especially for a bar called 'Inc' in Greenwich, I was equally shocked (and not just at the £115 per roll price tag!).

I do hope your walls are going to be covered in something much more respectable Dada and Beachbabe.

lol Marya at your google search

well we are now the happy owners of 9 rolls of wallpaper - hopefully that'll be enough. I was also the owner of a slightly frayed temper as we were attempting to get across town

the Murrayfield B&Q had very kindly put the rolls aside for us but it was the wrong one (maybe it isn't called Desire). However, they did have five rolls of the right one :)

That's certainly much more respectable than the one I saw from his very aptly named 'private' collection. Have you got any of those pills left ecm? I think I can feel a hot flush coming on

We're trying to break out on our own. We are copying you though - it's only paper up to a certain height, then a dado, then just paint - same as the bedroom in the old flat.

I cannot believe we are conducting on-line wallpaper inspections.

I must admit to once owning some curtains with this design, although the background colour was black! God they were awful, think my mother in law gave me them - never did like her.
Upshot is - managed to sell them for approx £300 to a B & B owner :P
