Leaving School
Leaving School
Well tomorrow is Bruce's last day at school. Its quite incredbile and I feel a real sadness for him. Even although he seems to have barely noticed. If a bomb went off in his rooom he would barley notice. in fact if a bomb went off in his room it would be an improvement.
Flearoy left school last year (she has he final 1st year exams today) and it was very sad but i think because she wasn't at PHS it wasn't quite as sad for me. I can relate more to Bruce is at the same school as me.
The day I left school was spectacularly sad. And definetly still in my top ten saddest days. It was a glorious sunny day, we went to the garden at the sheep's heid and I went home and broke down crying in the kitchen. Somehow, I can't see Bruce doing the same. He does have a lot of great people in his year, has had a great time but I guess like many of us they will not really appreciate it until its gone.
How did you feel about the end of your school life?

Leaving primary school was devastating. Leaving secondary school was an absolute joy to me, although the Vth year had been brilliant. The other four years were hell.
Leaving VIth form college was such a wonderfully perfect mix of sad and happy (excitement, nostalgia, apprehension etc; we were in a pub garden too, on a hot sunny day, the first time) that I decided to do it twice. The second time was May 8th and was the day I started seeing my ex-husband. So sadder than I thought.
Can't imagine the day my kids do it though - I already feel shocked that I'm as old as I am now!
All I really need is love, but a little chocolate now and then doesn't hurt!

I loved school and I didn't want to leave (probably because the then love of my life was staying for another year) but I can't actually remember leaving. Maybe it was so traumatic that I've blocked it out?
The next year of hell in the Printers will never leave me though.....
Enough of your nonsense - get back to the Play Pen!
I absolutely loved 5th and 6th year and was distraught on my last day of school. I remember a sense of sadness that I was leaving something special that I would never experience again and total terror and excitement about what was to follow. But actually life after school has been pretty good too so I don't feel too nostalgic about it now.

Please, please tell me you had at least eight pints otherwise I'll have to call you a big girls blouse.Porty wrote: It was a glorious sunny day, we went to the garden at the sheep's heid and I went home and broke down crying in the kitchen.

I can remember my last week at school but not the actual last day. It was certainly a mixture of sadness, anxiety( going from a wee cheuchter town to college in London was scary) happiness and a sense of freedom.
Wish I'd stayed on for sixth year as I'm not sure that I made the right career move and would probably have done something completely different .

I didn't really have a 'farewell' day at school as such. We moved house at the end of 5th year and I was planning on going back for 6th year at my new school, Currie HS, but I also applied for a few jobs at the same time and then got offered a job that included part-time college....and the lure of a weekly wage won out
Still wonder to this day where my life would have gone if I had stayed on (the job/college route didn't quote pan out as I hoped it would)
So all in all my last day at school was a bit of an anti-climax as didn't even know it was last day!
