see if you Google your Porty Online identity (you have to be quite bored), you find that the Google world picks you out quite quickly...
These are the first 10 members of the site, and I believe one of them is a Googlewhack!

I think I get on the first page of my results. (Epykat certainly does)

Milan was a bit dirtier than when I was last there, Mr M - unless it was the presence of 10,000 Scots that had such an effect
6 euro a pint was a bit steep though. It all got a bit much on Sunday and I headed off to Bergamo and met up with a Swiss Italian friend and she gave me a tour of the place - a lot more relaxing than Tartan Army duty!
Next stop, Belarus - wonder if we'll be there in time for the revolution?!

For the oldies amoung us what is a googlewhack

Only after the last tree has been cut down, only after the last river has been poisoned, only after the last fish has been caught, only then will you find, that money cannot be eaten.

Nice to hear from you again Hell's Cat. Do you know you have your very own thread now?
To answer your question a googlewhack is what happens when two words are entered in to Google and it comes back with one and only one hit.

Getting totally off topic! Mr E was in Milan too and wasn't overly impressed! On the day of the match his friend had his sporran cut off/removed in some way whilst in the crowd and lost £150, his phone and his credit card

They weren't made to feel all that welcome and felt they were being ripped off everywhere. Had a much better time in Germany a few years back. Now....... Belarus? Mmmmm....he hasn't mentioned that yet

Enough of your nonsense - get back to the Play Pen!

And back on topic, to google your own name has been dubbed 'to meegle'. Searching on the term "Bob Jefferson" I am astonished to find that my Portobello Online profile is the fourth result on the very first page.
It's kind of scary when our online musings in one tiny part of the world turn out to be so very publicly accessible.

Mr magnolia, after all this time I have just realised that your online identity comes from a children's book. I know Quentin Blake as the illustrator of Roald Dahl's children's stories but didn't realise he was an author in his own right. Don't know how we missed him really, his books sound great. I'll have to check out the library.

Searched for 'bearcub' thinking there would be so many that there was no chance of yours truly being there but, although there are loads, there I am on only pg 5

When I carried out the search on your name Bob you came first on page one out of 1,660,000 hits!
My user name came back with 289,000 hits.....I must be in there somewhere but don't know where. If I + Portobello then I'm first on the page.
What's spookier is that if I put my real name in I'm in the first two (completely different) sites on page one

yes, fab book(s).
but more accurate to say my identity 'coincides' with a children's book title...

Oh good. I thought I knew the reason for your identity, and was distressed by Bob's post.
Pic does look like you, though...

Googling the term
Portobello Edinburgh now has Portobello Online appearing first out of 81,600 results.
Even more incredibly, googling just
Portobello places us fourth out of 771,000 results.
We must be doing something right!
