The April Big Read
The April Big Read
Suggestions please for the April Big Read.
Based on previous postings, the current contenders are:
The Man In The High Castle 4 nominations
Bhudda Da 3
Catch 22 3
Running With Scissors 2
Tuesdays With Morrie 2
and I'd like to add Cloud Atlas because I've just bought it and it give me a justification for spending the dosh.

Just bought it on-line from Amazon. As a Sci-Fi/Fantasy fan, looking forward to it, although April might be pushing it, still got Fleshmarket Close waiting to be read even though received as a Christmas present
Actually, have a pile of approx 20 books 'waiting' to be read - love reading, and have shelves full of books to prove it, but sometimes there's more books to read than there is time in the day

Wanted to read it "without prejudice" as work and author new to me so have avoided Eric Broon's preface.
I also bought 'Joseph Smith' by James Robertson about an 18/19th century black slave in Scotland from what the blurb says.
And one of Kathy Reichs' gruesome offerings ......... which I've just realised I've read in hardback from the libraryas I was fooled by the word 'new' on the cover [Poppy utters sweary words!] . And lastly 21/2 Pillars of Wisdom by A McCall Smith which looks amusingly promising. [guess what? they are all from the 3 for 2 tables

Don't you just hate that?Well, I have finished it because I'm a good little girl!
I haven't started. Haven't bought it. Have an ever-growing pile of text books I need to read for my next assignment, and am about to reach the point where my brain objects to anything grown up and retreats to Chalet School books and Famous Five...
I think I need to take early retirement from the POL book club.
All I really need is love, but a little chocolate now and then doesn't hurt!

Thanks Mr. M. Very Flattering, though I've always seen myself more as Nils Lofgren than the Boss.mr magnolia wrote: Just 'cos the boss is away doesn't mean you can slack, you know!
I finished The Man In The High Castle and read Buddha Da and Cloud Atlas while I was away.
Looking at everyone else's posting I think we'll have to have a wee poll to see who has read what and where we take it from here!
I have nothing to say and I'm going to say it.
