Well, not me! Remember when Blueyonder were running a trial of 1MB broadband? We signed up for the trial, and then one day they turned it off, said ah, now don't you want it back? And won't you pay Ã‚Â£50 a month for the privilege? We never even noticed when it stopped!

And then we waited patiently and lo! and behold, they gave it to us for no extra charge. It's probably one of those ubergeek types so they can play Warcraft....

I went for 4MB/S as its only about 26 quid a month over here, but I've been with them for so long I get it for about 20 quid!!

I download a lot of stuff (work related

, watch TV, and listen to Radio One), so I need the Speed, Plus the fact 3MB is pretty standard now. and I hate being Standard!! lol

If this sample is representative then I think it confirms what I had suspected that most people are now enjoying broadband connection speeds. For not much more than the cost of a dial-up it certainly is a much better experience. We're not quite ready for live streaming video content on Portobello Online yet but it's probably not that far off either.

Can't say it seems any faster to me. I just know it is 'cos of the info in the bubble that appears when I've connected.

Hmm

well they're doing something funny at the minute 'cos my bandwidth tester says I'm being served with a mighty 32.5kb/s download!

When we lived 'in town' we had a baby broadband connection of (I think) 152kb/s, but it was delivered via a 2MB line and i don't think they actually controlled it at all...

But when we moved here to the country they said they couldn't deliver that service as they had no lines here and all Tiscali services are piggybacked on someone else's connections. So maybe BT have simply uprated the lines out here.

and stuff...

and nonsense...
