Fund Raising Event - Portobello Town Hall

Post by Lindsay the Book » 21 Jan 2005, 13:34

I'm posting this on behalf of a work collegue. Thanks
This is George Wilson from Portobello looking for any takers for tickets for a forthcoming charity event to raise funds for my nephew to travel to Austria for cancer treatment.
The event is run by "Two Worlds Connected" which is a well known spiritualist organanisation and will be attended by Catherine McLaughlan and William O'Conner as well as other reputable mediums. The event takes place at Portobello Town Hall on Friday 11th February 2005 at 8.00pm.
Anyone interested can contact me at Portobello Library on 529 5558. Tickets are priced at £10 each which I realise some people will think a bit pricey but it is for a very worth while cause.
Thanks for taking the time to read this message.
When I nod my head, you hit it!

This charity event sounds like it might be an interesting evening out, and obviously its for a very good cause.
I know quite a few of my friends at work are into Spiritualism/Mediums etc.- will certainly try and drum up some interest and sell some tickets when back at work next week. :)
How old would you be, if you didn't know how old you are?

George, what a great idea. Good luck and best wishes to your nephew. I am definately interested and know of others that would be keen to go to this event.

Lyndsay, have you any more details or is it best to call the number?

Is anyone else planning to go to this? I'm hoping to get tickets for it on Monday.

It's for a good cause so lets hope there's a good turn out.

Yes DG I'm going, have also managed to get 4/5 friends from work (and maybe a couple more) to come along as well, I'm looking forward to it. still to get my tickets though, will do that next week once I collect the money from everyone :!:
Lindsay, can you find out from George Wilson who is organising it, approximately how long it will last - we would like to book somewhere to eat for afterwards - thanks :)

That's great, Lizzie. I'd heard through the grape vine that tickets have been slow to sell so I thought I'd flag this thread up again.

I may see you there :D

You're the best DG. I'm off to Paris next week for France v Scotland at Rugby, would you be prepared to stick your neck out, risk complete public humiliation and tell us all who is going to win?

Liz, if you don't mind me asking, why are you going to see someone who may tell you what is going to happen in the future when you can' t even recall the recent past? How will you remember that whatever it is, was supposed to happen?

Very sarcastic today Porty  have you never made a mistake or forgotten something :?: :)
I had an extremely busy "multi-tasking" kind of day yesterday, something you blokes would know nothing about. :)
I not too sure about this Spiritualist/Medium stuff either, but I thought I would go along with a few friends who are interested to see what its all about, especially as its for such a good cause. I think you may have it wrong though, :? I don't think Mediums are into telling you what is going to happen in the future, its more messages from "the other side" - no doubt someone will correct me, if I'm wrong :)

Drat you spilled the beans DG.

Liz, when you say "the other side". I take it you refer to the wasteland beyond Brighton Place Bridge, Southfield Place etc? Do you think we may hear from Surrealist who was banished to those lands many months ago?

I'm sorry I've not been replying to requests for information about this event. Please just call the number or pop into the Library. Afternoons are best, but George alway works Monday night and Wednesday night for those of you with 9 - 5 type jobs. It is a great cause. Steven is responding well to treatment but still needs more sessions. Thanks
