This subject came up in the Ormelie last night and it brought about a bit of a heated debate.
The claim was that no-one is anymore than 5 people away from knowing anyone else. Does this have creedence?
For example, can anyone here take 5 steps or less to connect to Alice Cooper?

You mean you don't get the connection thing or you don't get why someone would argue with it?
Example: Sandie Shaw.
My uncle is a session musician and song writer. Back in the 60's he worked with Bill Martin and Phil Coulter who claimed credit for writing Puppet on a String, which won the eurovison song contest. So, i am only two people away from a connection with Sandie Shaw.

It's a Radio 4 programme on the subject. You need Real Player to play it. Available as free download at
www.real.com. If you already have it (most people do) the link should work.

I sat beside Ronnie Corbett at Spike Milligan festival show about 15 years ago or so. Ronnie recently appeared in adverts for Sky+ with Alice Cooper, soooooooooooo does that mean I'm two degrees away from Alice??????

It's Sunday why aren't you doing your housework or ironing instead of confusing yourself with all of this nonsense
Anyway wasn't it the three degrees

Remember when no shops were open on a Sunday and all you did was go to church, for a walk and visit relatives or your parent's friends?

Mr E works in Ronnie Corbett's house in Gullane where he usually deals with the housekeeper, who deals with Ronnie who deals with Alice. Easy....FOUR!
Enough of your nonsense - get back to the Play Pen!

When I was a student in London, I used to babysit for a couple who were involved in the theatre world(he was some director of some sort and she was a ballet dancer). Anyway Ronnie Corbett was one of his best friends and that's who he was visiting when I babysat sometimes. On other occasions it was Derek Nimmo. Never met them though.

Even I would have to admit it would be more than extreme that's required!

I don't think anyone will be requiring you to admit it.

Ronnie Corbett seems to be quite a common denominator so should it be five baby steps

It's only three steps to heaven - why on earth would you take 5 and get to Ronnie Corbett? (nice though I'm sure he is)

Some of us are not quite reading it yet, Foxy.
I must get a copy this weekend. A wee trip up to Borders seems likely.
