Help! Do you have Sky Sports?

Post by Bob Jefferson » 01 Jan 2005, 13:34

Just found that Carlisle United's game against Morecambe is to be screened live on Sky Sports 1 tomorrow (Sunday). Kick off 2:15pm. I had to give up my Sky Sports package a few years back to help pay for my broadband connection, so I'm looking for someone who is willing to tape it for me. CUFC's TV appearances are few and far between so I'd really like to see it. They are expecting a crowd in excess of 9000 and it could well set a new attendance record for a Conference game.

Can anyone help out? Post or pm me to arrange.

Sorry can't help Bob

Can't you just buy these preium channels for a day or a month or something? Still cheaper than going to the game I would imagine

I don't think it's quite as simple as that as I gave up my TV package altogether when I bought a Freeview box. I don't watch a lot of TV anyway but I do miss the footie.

I'd love to go to the game but I can't justify the time or expense on this occasion.

Somehow I can't see there being too many takers for this particular televisual feast. Could be a bit of a niche market.

Chances are if there is nothing bigger on at the same they'll put it on though.

Marya, that's good of you. Someone else has pm'd me with an offer to tape it, but it would be handy to have an insurance policy - just in case.

Jamesie, if 'One Man and His Dog' is on another channel they are more likely to show that than the Carlisle game.

Not at all. I have complete confidence in El P to produce the goods but I'm keeping Marya warm on the subs bench as a precaution.

I was more operating on automatic pilot Epykat! It's become a bit of a tradition that I prepare a full Roast Beef dinner for some of my in-laws on New Year's Day. The worst one I ever struggled through was for the Millenium when I had 19 to cook for after a very late night - now that was being the hostess with the mostess.
Anyway I'm feeling pretty good now that I've had a hair or two of the dog.
How did your Garden Party go last night?

Good, if a bit short lived! Weather wasn't too bad but most of the candles kept blowing out. The hard core managed to stay out for about an hour and a half which was pretty good considering. Going to do it again in the Summer! Bummer was taking the gazebo down this morning in the rain :?

Was wondering what had happened to it this morning Epykat! Sandra had told me all about it yesterday, but when I got in from work it was dark and I couldn't see much. Got up about 11.00 and was surprised the gazebo was no more....was expecting it to last til the afternoon at least, ie. when the hangover would allow

BTW, that's not a nice thing to call Mr E if it couldn't get past the censors

I beg your pardon! *** did not stand for Mr E - he was in his bed nursing the hangover - I was out in the garden at 9am dismantling the gazebo and trying to stop the fish from eating the floating candles  (didn't think fish were into eating wax but they are!)

No wonder you called yourself a *** if you were out at 9am on New Year morning pulling apart a gazebo - although normally 'deranged' and 'off-your-heid' get past the censors

Many thanks to Poppy and El P for taping the game. I managed to avoid the result and it turned out to be quite an exciting match. Carlise got off to a great start, 2-0 up after nine minutes and cruising. At half time it was 3-1 but Morecambe made a good comeback in the second half and it ended 3-3.

Disappointing result then and Conference football isn't pretty to watch. Did I ever tell you that Carlise were once top of the football league? Not only that but captain Bill Green scored the first goal of the season, against Chelsea at Stamford Bridge after 106 seconds. It seems like a lifetime ago, and almost is.
