I'm still wanting to play.

But anymore than 5 a side, and the pitz pitches feel cramped.

Sorry Gedge.

My friend, who lives in Spain, has just announced her engagement. Unfortunately(for the football), she's coming home for the weekend of 18/19th and Sunday lunchtime is the only time I'm going to be able to see her.

Put me down for the next one though.

Hope you all have a great time and I'll be along next time. Is the game live on Porty TV? Sure I could go to a Rome net cafe... :D

Joining orders!!

Post by Gedge » 16 Mar 2006, 09:35

Right I think I've managed to collect together enough "players" despite a few late call offs:

Porty
Robin
Bob
Gedge
Zargonian
Novastar
Mr Epycat
Young Epycat
Plus 2 friends of mine outwith Portobello.

There are another few possibles in the pipeline.

Bring a white shirt (Portie t-shirt if you have one) and a coloured one. Meet by the changing rooms 11.25. I will be wearing my Portie tshirt.

If anyone else fancies a part of a game feel free to turn up 11.30 at the Portie Pitz on Sunday.

Drink in the Plough or Forresters at 12.45?

See you Sunday

Thanks, I think, to Gedge for organising this. Some of the guys went to the Forresters afterwards but I was more in need of oxygen that alcohol. Excellent fun though and something we must do again soon.

Gedge showed some clever touches in his Franz Beckenbauer role and it was quite clear that some of his mates had played the game before and were reasonably fit, which put the Porty Online team at some disadvantage. Nevertheless, we held out for an evenly contested draw (of sorts).

I shall sleep well tonight, in spite of the fact I have no skin on my left heel, but whether I will be able to walk tomorrow is another matter entirely.

Thanks Gedge I really enjoyed it and we should do it again soon, end of April?

Thank god for the young legs of son of epykat. In true POL style as i was driving out of Power League I spotted Gemini. We are always pleased to see each other and have a friendly exchange. I explained that we had just been playing football for POL. I heard her shout "I hope you got thrashed". I dont think she was joking. :D

Yeah the boy Fraser has always been a bit good. Another friend who was of a much more appropriate standard was lined up but he called off so Fraser got the call at 8.30 the night before. Anyway you had a fine blend of youth and experience.

Really enjoyed the Sunday morning activity. Pitches obviously aren't in great demand and I didn't need to part with money til I knew we had enough people so it won't take much to organise another one. Let's make it an all Portie On-line affair next time.

Good to put a few more faces to names Novastar, Robin and Zargonian.

It's a pity that Nova plays with the wrong shaped ball....that was quite evident. As well as my total lack of fitness.

Good bit of fun though, and I'm looking forward to the next game.
And also looking forward to where I've left my knees!

Excelent game lads, and thanks for organising the game Gedge!

We were getting turned over until Fraser swapped sides and evened the sides up and made it a more interested game, we slowly clawed back the 8 goal advantage the darkside had and we won by 1 goal! Chuffed I managed to knock in a few goals my self. :D

If another game is organised or this becomes a regular occurance, count me in!

I'd like for us to be kitted out with different strips and also think it
would be good fun if we could get a few games against other forums
of the same ilk. Only after lots of practice mind, and several hospital visits methinks.

mmm noticed Mr Epykat strolling home with bag in hand on Sunday (was outside Cinnamon waiting for BC) - thought they must have stayed on to watch the footie in the pub - not like they need an excuse!

Hmm, what exactly was the final score then? Sounds like it resembled a Rugby scoreline more than a Football one

Didn't you like the POL teeshirt look then Zarg? Bob will be most disappointed - he loves his teeshirt y'know!

Anyhow, looks like the POL wimmin are taking you on next time. I can't wait to see Foxy nutmeg Porty. And I've been told that ecm's banana benders are unbeatable :D

Agreed :D

The score was something like 21-20 or there abouts. But thats a typical 5 a side scoreline.

I could also organise a game against globalbanter, but I'll play for GB tho!
