Right, time to get going.
Poppy, you have yourself as nice and relaxing an evening as you can.
Hope all goes OK over the weekend and I'll supply full report on this evening's proceedings tomorrow.

Also for your mother in law, now that she's home, hopefully she will feel much better.

I'm guessing 20 - but the point is - what were they!!!???
Indigestion tablets after the deer meat, I trust!
It's a really grotty day out there at the mo - while you lot are sleeping off the bevy and food - and I am off to spend the day OUTSIDE selling chariddee cards at a Christmas market in Selkirk. Fantastic.

I had the deer meat and believe me, indigestion tablets were superfluous as it was impossible to even cut, never mind eat
You missed a good night Pops, but at least you're up and about being a Christmas angel...I on the the another hand am about to search out a very strong black coffee
It was great to put a few more faces to names...not many left now
And a big thanks to Sandra for organising the whole thing
Oh and Happy Birthday Bearcub...have a great day

Does this total include bearcub who also managed to fall as well?
Good night but was too stuffed after to do anything else. No taxis so ended up walking home which was quite good after the long haul meal.
No wonder it took so long, the chef was always outside the kitchen serving alcohol!

Thanks for organising a good night out. I didn't have the reindeer stew so I had a nice meal. Why so few things in your handbag?

Thanks Sandra for organising the night out.
My meal was delicious (and that's coming from someone who is not a curry afficiando), so hats off to 'Bonuful' too. It was the first time I had been inside since it was 'Oop' and I was most impressed on how well they've remodelled the whole place. Lots of good quality touches.
My only regret is that we were divided between two tables - oh and trying to match Porty on the drinks front was a probably a bit of a mistake too

Yeah, thanks Sandra, it was a very good night.
I felt pretty good this morning, probably because I was sipping away on the Cobras rather than glugging vino.

Yeah, thanks Sandra for organising that. A good meal, if a little on the loooonnnnnnggggggg side - was sort of past it by the time my main course arrived. Probably bagged up by 36 pompadoms

I didn't think I'd had that much to drink but I've had a bit of a hangover for most of the day

Either that or I've caught something from the carpet of that pub wot we thought everybody was meeting in ......
Enough of your nonsense - get back to the Play Pen!

Excellent night Sandra and well done. I thought it was a really good idea to seat the most important people at a table where we could look down on the rest
Think we broke the world poppadom eating record.

My thanks too, Sandra and BC. And for the record I agree with Porty about the seating arrangements

.
Had a great time, and no hangover for college - woohoo! Suppose that's more to do with not drinking alcohol rather than good luck though...

before going along on Friday I assumed that I would be meeting a right bunch of nutters and weirdos.
Once I'd got home I realised that very often my assumptions are correct.
But not in this case though!
Nice to meet whoever I met and thanks to Sandra for organising food (and floor show)

As a footnote to this thread, and to our Xmas night out, I spoke to the owner of Bonful yesterday as I phoned in my order. He asked how we had enjoyed our meal. Automatically, I almost said 'Oh it was very nice etc' and then decided to be honest with him and told him that the 3 or 4 people who had ordered the 'deer meat' had been very disappointed with it (very chewy).
I also mentioned that it would have been nicer if we could all have been seated together, instead of at two seperate tables. And finally, I said that one or two people had felt that the service had been very slow.
Jahed (hope I got the name right) thanked me for my honest reply and said that it was very important that they got this kind of feedback. He apologised for the venison and promised to look into it. He explained that they had tried various seating combinations but it was just impossible to seat that number of people together.
And the service? I think that with the best will in the world it is almost impossible to serve such a large number of diners with a variety of different dishes any quicker.
For the record, all the other dishes were excellent. The duck in particular was delicious, and very spicy.
My carry-out was very good as usual and yes, I managed to walk all the way there to collect it.
So thumbs up for the Bonoful. They took our criticism on the chin and with good grace and I will certainly be back for more.

Yes, I'll be back too. Deer meat is always a gamble and although we waited for a wee while

for our food, we were all served at the same time, more or less. Which was fairly impressive. The duck was delicious, but too hot for me.
The Mango Murgh and Chicken Tikka Korma from the Bonoful are the absolute best. With hindsight, I should have gone a la carte.
I'll know next year.

I'd go back again because the food was good - although next time I'll make it a bit more intimate and go without the other 18 bodies - might get served quicker

He did enjoy it! It's not so much that he doesn't like spicy food, as that it doesn't like him - although he managed not to drown any of us in the vicinity! It really is an affliction you know
