BBC:
the 159,000 other turkeys on the farm will also have to be slaughtered.
the Bernard Matthews farm.....(birds) were raised in a shed
 No surprise there then. Always knew there was a reason I avoided Bernard Matthews products....apart from the obvious nauseating advert reason.

How very dare you!

No, it is the sound of a turkey happily (well, as happy as a battery turkey can be) going about its business and then keeling over. Perhaps I should have put gobble ...gobble...gobble...cough...donk. That would have been much clearer. :-k

Sad day for Golden Drummers fans everywhere.

Surely if you cook it well there's no risk? Be a shame to waste all that meat.

Sorry, Snakey One, dietary habits don't help: it's one's behaviour around live feathery things that could be the danger:
BBC quote from Professor Oxford:
You have got to get up-close and snuggly with a bird to get ill.

Do you intend to cuddle turkeys??

I should be worried - I patted a goose in the Figgy Park last week. Got a dirty look from it, but it was too busy eating to react more!!

Sorry Poppy, I've calmed down now that I've sent Ali a rather sternly worded email, and also sent him a picture of my new hairstyle, so that he won't be able to doubt me anymore.

I actually meant that you'd beaten me to the point regarding the fact that diet will not save us from bird flu.

I'm sorry for any confusion which has arisen.

Yours sincerely,

Nelson Hatstand or whatever my name is.

That's ok, Mr Coffeetable. I do hope you have chastised that Ali good and hard. And if that Ali does not let me see the photo he'll be in the deepest of deep trouble

Eh no I don't intend to cuddle a turkey Poppy. I just got a bit confused (It's my age!!!)
As for that goose did you mean patted or pattied ( as in Pate) if it was the later that could explain the look
