I remember seeing Banco De Gaia at Glastonbury a good ten years ago, I seem to remember the whole sound system was run on horse manure or something! It's true. Oh no I've just remembered I think it had something to do with bicycles wired up that people would take a turn on riding to keep the leccy going for the gig, but I was a little under the influence.

There's an album of that gig.

I think the front cover is a keyboard and a cow.

Vertically Challenged by Lady Sovereign

Not what I'd normally listen to (it's kind of hip hop/garage music) but it's really good - fast and agressive and it's got guitars in it.

Now trying to work out the guitar parts...

Actually, think I've just heard a possible signiture in a chorus...

I didn't see it but heard about it, so yes. Try the Girl Who Couldn't Fly, her last album.

I met a woman tonight who looked just like Fay Fife. Turned out she was Fay Fife, my favourite all-time pop star. We hadn't met in a quarter of a century, although I had seen her onstage a couple of years ago and had followed her career. I called my 13 year old son over.

'What's my favourite band?' I asked.

'The Rezillos' he replied.

'And what is the female singer in the Rezillos called?'

'Fay Fife'

'Say hello to Fay Fife'

'Yeah, right'

We couldn't convince him that I wasn't having him on.

And the ridiculous thing is, 30 years since I first saw the Rezillos onstage supporting the Ramones, I'm still star-struck and awed in her presence.

Jean Michel Jarre - "Equinoxe pt 5"

I can still see wee Paul Coia's face on that quiz show they used JMJ music on.

Whit wis it again?

edit -> it was "Catchword"

Another gameshow with a great band doing the theme was The Krypton Factor - the tune was done by muso-art-studio band Art Of Noise.

Happy days.

I'm listening a lot at the moment to the first album by the excellent Edinburgh band Found.

As their name implies, they specialise in manipulating 'found' sounds and very good it sounds too ( or so I've found).

Album is called Found Can Move and you can find extracts to listen to on http://www.surfacepressure.co.uk/found
I have nothing to say and I'm going to say it.

Why thank you, Mr D. It's been a while...

And now I am listening to Major Force (The Original Art-Form), a boxed set of Japanese hip hop on Mo'Wax. You'd like it, I reckon.

Had a road trip through central Texas (from Sealy, west of Houston, to Dallas) off the major roads last night...

Sound track of Peter Gabriel, Rolling Stones and Tears for Fears.

Some of the small towns were interesting to see - can imagine the brawl falling out of the saloon! Will have to find some photos online of Calvert Texas...
