I'm in the daisy park quite a lot so have no doubt had a squint at you out of the side of my eye thinking there's another one sleeping it off
I'm usually chasing my dog past the benches in case he waters someones leg along with the bench. Boy dogs are a real nuisance sometimes.

And Dizzy Lizzie's ?
Yes, I lived just along from Buchanan street so I remember Dizzys. Don't remember Mathers though.
I used to drink in the Dalmeny on the corner and Tommy Youngers over on Leith Walk.
Classy, huh?

Are you going to make me feel old now by telling me you were 6 when I lived there?
Between the ages of 4 and 14. See that shop on the corner opposite the Dalmeny bar? My gran used to work there when she was 13 - it used to be a shoe shop.

Do you remember when the cars used to park in the middle of the street?

I managed to get along to the Mela today too Dada and ecm. No surprise we didn't spot each other as the crowds were huge. Mind you ecm I am a tad surprised I didn't catch sight of you in that rather fetching outfit you had on.

I didn't buy any CDs this year, though I agree with your praise of PHD. We came away with some Banging Bhangra sounds last year, but it's just not the same somehow listening to it indoors on a dreich day and it's now somewhere at the bottom of our CD pile. I'm tempted to dig it out again now........

Yeah I get the same with the "Jose Bolano y su Companeros" CD I bought in Havana. It just doesn't kick it in the Durhams.

That shop was some kind of estate agents around the time I was there.

I'd forgotten about the car parking thing til now.

I'm a bit slow catching up with this thread but I had to post to say that I was a regular in Dizzy's when I first moved up to Edinburgh. I was in student digs in Rosslyn Crescent so Dizzy's and the Shrub were our locals. A pint, a toastie and a lunchtime go go dancer - well, it seemed a better option than taking a 14 uptown for a German phonetics lecture.

Some time in the late 70s the space invaders craze took off and the tiny table the girls used to dance on was replaced by an arcade machine. The punters were soon bored though and normal service resumed.

I used to work in the Walk Inn. If I recall, Tommy Younger died the day he was due to take over. It was an incredibly busy pub. My previous bar job had been in the Tilted Wig, a terribly posh place. The first guy I served in the Walk Inn asked for a rum and pep and wasn't at all amused when I served him a Bacardi and Coke!

When I lived down that way I always thought Rosslyn Crescent looked a lovely street with the trees down the middle and "posh" tenement buildings.

Further up the walk - my mistake. Corner of Iona street.

Thought I'd post a reminder that this year's Mela is on this weekend in Pilrig Park. Have a look here for details of times etc.

I'm off to find my Bhangra CD to get me in the mood .:0.:
