To an extent, he has settled into his confinement - he eats, sleeps, poos and wees ok.
Last night around midnight I had to get up and cuddle him - his cries were a bit more than your average mew, and I needed to check his food and water were ok etc. Once he had sat with me and watched a documentary on National Geographic about gangs in maximum security prisons, he was fine - he purrs so much he drools and quivers!
It's a real slog for an outdoor cat like him, and it's only 2 weeks into the game. He gets an x-ray soon and I hope this has been worth it and he is starting to mend.

UPDATE
Great news. He is healing well and it's all lined up nicely. They were worried cos of all the shards of bone that it wouldn't but it is.
He has put on weight in his cage, which at this stage is good because it helps the healing process. Fat boy can work it off later.
He has to stay in his cage for another month.

Hooray!
Oscar is now allowed out of his box. His leg is stable. He can't leave the house, but what a relief!!
Neo-Dadaist #1 had managed to impart some of the recent events to nursery, but it wasn't until I told them today that they fully understood that what was wrong was a broken leg. They thought that his transition from being "in a box" to "not in the house" (when he went for his x-ray) meant he had died!
6-8 weeks and another x-ray and he should be able to get outside.
Total cost of all the x-rays, operation and tablets was £400 which was paid for by Tesco pet insurance (except the £40) excess.
Warm thanks to everyone who said get well soon for the chappy.
