<sarcasm>At least we have the re-formation of Take That to be thankful for this evening</sarcasm>

The lads from Take That haven't aged well. All their eyes have sunk back in their skulls, they look wan, haggard, and there seems to be more of Barlow than before.

They don't seem to be capable of jumping about as much but 3 of them seem to still be doing some sort of absurd chicken dance while the 4th one sings.

edit-> added Cleo quote cos BC beat me to being right underneath Cleo/Manilow (ambiguity and puns intended)
Take that couldn't in my opinion come back wthout Robbie, he was the spark!

Sorry, Novastar, Bearcub ... really have to beg to differ with you.

Ben and Leona aren't completely devoid of talent. Ben was very good tonight, but he is limited in what he can get away with. Leona keeps trying to be the Diva, with the warbly voice, but can't quite pull it off. I don't think she is as good as the judge/mentors paint her as.

Ray, on the other hand, has had to come back from some unkind comments about his style and delivery ... and give a very polished performance with songs that he really should be out of his depth with. He has a very good voice and can switch genres better than the others. He is and always will be a better all-rounder onstage.

Unfortunately, however ... unless he can pull something completely out of left field next week ... I think it will be Ben and Leona in the final, due to the offstage carve-up because it's been forecast to be those two for weeks now!

Spot on about Manilow though!!!

Disagree with you on Take That, Sandra ... obviously I'm not a Robbie fan. He's not as his good his promoters think he is. And the boys still have pulling power enough for a sell-out tour and being top of the charts! :P

They might pull a ligament, or maybe put their backs out.

Their fans have aged too tho - imagine if a new generation of Take That fans comes about. Much prefers the new stuff etc.

I think I might have to peruse a TT forum. Put my finger to the wind as it were.

Dissent in the ranks of Thatters.

Current hot topic - the "celebrities" who were in the Audience With Take That weren't celeb enough. Not only that the fans - these are the people who buy 10 copies each to get TT to No.1 - were put in the cargo section of the audience.

Don't care ... I was ALWAYS the HUGEST fan of TT ... bar NONE!

Outside of bands who played guitar and drums ... TT were the first and best of those who came after.

Boyzone and Westlife, East17, 5ive, Blue, A-plus ... whatever ... pale, pale imitations of the real thing.

TT RULED!! Even without Mr ME! ME! (Robbie).

Yes, they're older (which of us aren't?) Yes, Gary's put on a few more kilos (He WAS the fat one). Yes, they're no doubt a lot creakier ... but they still do the biz.

I like the new stuff, but it was good to hear the "Golden Oldies" again ... :D

I'm with you on the celebs though ... these "Audience With ... " progs are just made to fill with ZZZ listers and a couple of half-decent ones,

Sandra ... it's NOt a case of Clee (me!) seeing the light ... more a case of spotting a fix from miles away!

I'd go for Tangerine Dream in that category. I've never been big on Kraftwerk.

Tangerine Dream???? I LOVE Tangerine Dream!!!!

ALPHA CENTAURI!!! PHAEDRA!!!!

Absolute CLASSICS!!!

I grew up listening to them, cos they were my dad's fave electronic band! He was also into Creedence Clearwater Revival hugely ... but let's not go there ... he's never forgiven the Fogarty that broke them up! He used to say "Get tae Fogarty ... " if you annoyed him!

Anyway ...

ULTIMA THULE!!! STRATOSFEAR!!! WHITE EAGLE!!! CYCLONE!!! UNDERWATER SUNLIGHT!!! BOOK OF DREAMS!!!

You've just gone up 50% in my estimation, Dada!!! :D :D

And you. TD are just lovely. It's funny how, when you see a film they did the soundtrack to, it's almost as if the soundtrack is the lead star. I was finding it hard to concentrate on "Risky Business" and "Thief" recently cos I was trying to drink in the synth goodness.

I'm not sure - cos there's so much - but Dominion might be my favourite track. Certainly "Dream Sequence" is my favourite comp.

We should defer to Dakota cos he is the expert here.

Not seen so much of the films ... but my dad lives and breathes TD ... he took a very young me to a gig they did in Edinburgh years ago and their lightshow just blew my mind away! It was my first ever gig! :D

Another fave is Isao Tomita ... but I like electronic music.

Should see me on the floor dancing to "Trance" ... I'm in a different reality.

Who's Dakota?? Not Miss Fanning (War of the Worlds new version) surely??

Sorry - should have added a bit more to that post - my modem was about to give out. Have just noticed the last point (hands down if you want coffee) - is that a good church or a bad one? ( and don't all start saying all churches are bad  :D ). One in Bonnington Road sounds like quite a good one. From the outside (I've never been in) it sounds like one of those churches you see in the deep south of America with a preecher (normally black and with a passing resemblance to James Brown) giving it the full hell and damnation speel and lots of people singing and clapping. My local church (Pilrig) is awful. Full of 80 year old women going to sleep. Mind you it's the only C of S church I've been into (I'm C of E) so not sure if they are all like this - anyone been in a good one  .

I've had a very busy week-end and got the X factor recorded for me. I'm going to settle down this afternoon after work to watch it. How I thought I would last without knowing who had been knocked out, I don't know.
I'll still enjoy watching it though and judging them for myself.

Getting it recorded is a great idea because you could fast-forward through the rubbish bits - anything from just the singing to the whole show!

I remember our first ever video player. I recorded an episode of "Tales Of The Unexpected" and must have spent a morning with my jaw on the floor, just pausing, ffwd'ing and rewinding the same episode.

Leona ought to walk it but according to Celebrity in the Jungle watchers it was travesty that Myleen didn't win. I watched 2 minutes of the after party and there was one black girl with a really nice figure but what a horrid person she appears to be.

I also saw the photo shoot of a bikin clad Myleen in the pool and I can't see what all the fuss is about, it seemed like just another pool.

I don't watch the Jungle ... but while channel-hopping I DID catch the bit where Jason Donovan's head was covered in insects and a snake. Although I was screaming "Bite him! Bite Him! Kill the git" at the TV ... I have to admire his fortitude and bravery in doing that.

I couldn't ... I wouldn't ... I'd be running off into the jungle scraming like Naomi Watts in the clutches of a sexually charged giant monkey!!!

She was the lead actress in Peter Jackson's King Kong ... been around a bit before that ... and she is white. Apparently she's a Hollywood A-lister! Go figure!

Well that's me up to date with the X factor, can't say I was overly impressed this week.
Does anyone else think Barry Manilow looks like a caricature of Rod Stewart ?

Izzie sweetie ... Ray is by far the talented singer and performer on the show.

Ben has definitely improved from the beginning if you look at the "best bits" when it's repeated later today. He no longer "shouts" his songs ... but, he can't switch his "style" of singing very easily. His appeal, however you look at it, is limited, because of his "Rock" singing.

I don't think Leona is as good as they all seem to want us to believe. But, there's a move afoot to make her the first female winner .. and we've seen that coming for weeks now. She also has a "style" she finds it difficult to move away from. Her appeal is even more limited. Her warbling, while not all bad is limiting her choice of songs. I thought Dionne who went out earlier was actually the better singer/performer.

Ray got through last night, because he CAN switch genres fairly easily with his "style" which is termed "easy listening". It could be our "aging population" who listen to Radio Two more than any other station, is voting for the softer tones and cool, confident ease that Ray exudes. He's getting through because he's switched from Swing to Croon and the Bing/Nat listeners like him. Look at the lasting popularity of cabaret/lounge crooners!

Simon was right to bring him back in ... and wasn't he just incredibly smug last night! He's right as usual! :)
