Reasons to not like Edinburgh (and love Portobello instead)

Back to my youth provision on the Golf Course idea, I was thinking that I hadn't heard much about the SubZero project of late. Some of you may recall that the Powerleague site was being touted as a possible location for this Edinburgh-wide youth facility.

I spoke to Ross Whitton this morning to get an update. Seems they have given up on Edinburgh because of the obstacles faced in securing a site and have now turned their attention to a more youth-friendly Glasgow.

That's given me an idea, in the yoof area, next to the basketball court what about an ice rink? Like Ikea are doing. Do you think we could build a ski slope in as well?

There is a lot about Edinburgh I dislike. Imagine I dislike CCG's and M&S stocks half its shells full of them, I'd probably then say I don't like M&S.

I don't think Edinburgh is half-full of CCG's. However, it only takes a small number to restrict freedom.

Bob, this definitely a biscuit thing. You made me think of the ginger most familiar to me and he is best clothes covered beleive me.

I may well be a bit miffed but I don't think I would a) complain or b) draw comparison with life in Barlinnie.

I know I hijacked Gilo's thread to begin with, but you're not supposed to hijack my hijack attempt. Can we get back to my Community Golf Course Masterplanning Exercise (no consultant required)?

Have the golf club ever been approached before regarding using their land for anything else? I think placing a skatepark on the golf course is a marvellous idea and I 'm sure they'd be perfectly reasonable about it.

Does anyone know how to start an online petition? I feel the tide of Portobello public opinion already swelling in favour of the skatepark, and I think that if the Golf club are presented with this, they'll quietly leave.

Funnily enough, yes. There was a plan at one point to build a school and some houses on it. They weren't terribly pleased about it to be truthful. I think I see where you are coming from.

Chocolate covered gingers are a sweetie found in Hamiltons, Bath St Porobello another reason to love Portobello ( and in boxes in the likes of Marks and Spencers. if you want to be posh ) You can also get lovely ginger biscuits covered in chocolate from Asda, which is not far from Portobello Park where Bob want's to put his sim skate park.

I have enough trouble staying upright on my legs never mind a wee bittie board with 4 wheels attached ... but yes ... I'll sign up for it.

The City of Edinburgh itself runs six golf courses, and there are no fewer than 28 courses altogether within the city boundaries. I say Edinburgh City Council ... give up just ONE of your usually empty courses for use by teenagers as a skatepark, BMX/moto-course. Is that TOO much to ask???

Y'know Bob this might actually be a good idea. I believe the golfers were offered an alternative site in the event of a school being built so there would be land going spare ( mind you so will the residents around there ) so why not a skate park or as the application said a" wheeled sports facility", surely something could be included for the disabled in there. Not just wheel chair races but something more imaginative.
