Why is water a liquid when it is made up from two gases? (These questions are getting harder - I usually shrug a say dunno, but I thought I might come through on this one.)

AFAIK all matter can exist as solid, liquid or gas depending on temperature.

So you can get liquid oxygen and hydrogen just as you can get gaseous water.

So it's not that water "is" a liquid. At room temperature and at 1 bar of pressure the elements which make up liquid water are gaseous.

You could try "magic" as an answer

When oxygen and hydrogen combine the bonds between the atoms are so strong that they raise the boiling point ( see hydrogen bonding in wikipedia or the like) so water is liquid at room temerature where oxygen and hydrogen are gases.

One of the kids was doing an essay on somebody famous today. He chose Jesus. First question: What was he famous for again Miss? Answer: He was the son of God. Second question: So was he just famous on the back of what his Dad had done then?

In relation to Jesus. I'm a bit surprised that God chose crucifixion to perpetuate the story of his son's death. If i'm not mistaken it was a fairly common way to die in those days.

Not sure of the role of the marketing department way back then? Surely a head-to-head car crash would have made for more miraculous headlines? The only two cars in the world, 1900 years or so before Daimler invented them .Yet they managed to crash into each other. And the collision could have been avoided if Iscariot hadn't cut Jesus brake pipes.

I hope you agree that this would have made for better storytelling, however already I can see some merchandising issues. For example its hard to imagine millions of christians sporting a necklace that depicted two vehicles mangled together with a bit of a beardie hanging out. It would also look pretty weird in vampire films.

Not original - Bill Hicks was saying this sort of thing years ago, and look what happened to him.

And not accurate either, because Karl Benz invented the motor car.

Still, 4/10 for a good effort at that time in the morning.

I used to be puzzled as to why vampires were scared of crosses when legends about them predate Christianity. There's also the thing about garlic, lemons, odd socks etc.
Then I was told it's the symbol of the faith and belief that they're scared off.
So that gets me wondering, if you're Jewish does a Star of David work, would icons work for Greek Orthodox and what about an agnostic like myself?
Suppose I'd have to wave something I believe in.

I honestly didn't know about Bill Hicks doing that type of thing but I guess I may have heard it in the past and had a flashback. I had to edit about 15 times due to being very tired and emotional. Thanks for the benz tip,
