So sorry to hear of the passing of Chester. I don't think people who don't have pets realise what a large part of your lives they take up and just how much you can grieve for them.

Poor Sara had to be put down on Saturday morning. She was at least 16yrs old and had a hard few months as age caught up with her. Tried putting the decision off as long as we could so the final decision was eventually made by the vet. A really hard thing to do and thankfully the only time I have had to do this despite all the cats I've had. She's greatly missed by us and Kitty (who's been really lost around the house).

Sympathies DG

It has to be one of the worst decisions ever. Kitty will miss her for ages. When Patsy died Selma spent about three weeks looking round the house for her and meowing. It was awful.

That's sad news DG. Every cat is one of a kind and it's the unique things that you miss. Sorry that Kitty has lost a pal too.
It's so easy to get attached to them, and so hard to have to say goodbye.

I've got this picture in my head of Kitty still looking for her pal. What a shame for you all DG
P.S.
Sorry I didn't have a blether last week when I ran in front of your car DG! I was in a rush to pick up son and heir who was dangerously close to being the last child to be picked up from after-school club.

Don't worry about it, Marya. You'll looked like you were in a hurry.
Thanks again for peoples sympathies. Kitty seems to be enjoying all the extra pampering!

I guess every cloud has a silver lining.
Sorry, to learn of your bereavement DG. I'm curious, did your trousers shrink?

So sorry to read about your cat, it's such a hard decision to have to make, but being put to sleep must be a nice calm way to go!!
Our family dog is getting older and wee also dread the day that anything should happen to her!!

Thanks, Arachnid. It was getting to the stage that it was too hard to see her struggling on. I think that's what made the final decision - she went from hapy to miserable and that's hard to watch. It is the difficult side to having pets. How old is your dog?

Not sure how old she is as she's a " rescue dog"!
But vet checked her over when we got her six years ago and reckoned that she was about five or six years old, so she must be about eleven or twelve now, but she still seems pretty fit at the moment

Where's Eddie?
Eddie lives next door but squats on our deckchair on a daily basis
Love your Jackdaw Arachnid! I love all crow type birds. There used to be two crows on the beach who would torment the dog with sticks it was hysterical. Hope he doesn't fly away too soon.
