It is the same afternoon but I'm sure that with a bit of careful planning you could combine all three. That's what I'm hoping to do anyway.

Hold the front page Sandra. Looks like the BRA BBQ may be reverting to the traditional Sunday rather than last year's Saturday due to various clashes with other events. It is also more likely to be a 4 pm rather than a 2 pm kick off ; timings will be firmed up tomorrow. This means of course that with a POL bash on the Sat followed by a BRA do on the Sun I should be in real good shape for my first day back at work on the Monday *gulp*

What I heard was that the prospect of the POL posse turning up en masse prompted an emergency meeting and a hurried change of date. Never mind, we'll just have to gatecrash the Local Food Shindig instead!

Funny you should mention that. I've been trying to find it since last year but I've drawn a complete blank and was thinking of ways I could borrow one for this year. Think it was last seen in Rosefield Park under your reign Bob....not that I'm casting aspersions or anything you understand

It was fun, I managed to (as tradition dictates) burn the sausages, but wouldn't be, or taste, the same if I hadn't. (that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it

)

Weather was good to start with, but a brisk breeze and a disappearing sun soon made the temptation of packing up and discovering the sanctuary of Dalriada too much to resist. Myself and Sandra have made a (surprisingly) early exit but, as far as I know, there's still a few hardy POL'ers propping up the bar in said premises.

Oh, and nice to meet you Gilo & Rathbone.

Good to meet you too Bearcub and everyone else that was there. As you may have noticed to begin with I hung around a little way away not knowing whether you were POL or a random bunch of strangers. This was until my observant son said "there's a man with a Portobello Online Tee-shirt", Bob I thought to myself so I sauntered over! The boys enjoyed a good run around, on leaving Gabe (aged 5) was crying and shouting I want to play with Tooooobbbbbyyyyyy!!!! Danny (aged 7) said whilst walking home "was Foxy there?" I said "No Danny she wasn't." to which he replied "Is Foxy foxy???!!"

It was really cool. And by that I mean baltic. I was supposed to divide my time between the PEDAL thing and the POL thing but I wasn't very successful. And I swear I didn't drink much but I nearly had to go home from the ball with only one sparkly slipper. Luckily a pair of handsome princes found the other one (last seen being buried by a Bellybaby and a Gilette) for me just in time... Other half got a talking to from firefighters about the PEDAL bonfire she had nothing to do with, but was told she wouldn't be charged

- so that's ok then...!

And having taken locally produced (by me) food for PEDAL, I was extremely grateful to be taken pity on and fed and watered (with Pimms) by the kind POLers. Truth to tell, in my eagerness to be a good, productive moderator (ha!), I hadn't actually even noticed this thread so didn't know I was supposed to be barbecuing

Good to meet you, Gilo...brave man. And I'm glad my wee darling made a good impression on your wee darling, although I'm sorry it led to such distress! Good to meet Rathbone too. And it's true that Sandra and Bearcub left early (about the time clan Marya arrived, fashionably late - by hours!), but they forgot to mention they came back again...!:twisted:

I can't believe I've missed the entire weekend of Portyness!

Today's pusher-to-be forgot about me, and so I have been stranded with nowt but the *sounds* of beachy goodness all afternoon. Not fair!

There had better be some good photos up for perusal so I can see what I missed..

Me neither, I was quite surprised when he said it! Danny gets annoyed with me when I'm using the computer for POL. He stands just behind me watching whilst waitng for me to get off so he can play a shoot 'em up game. So he now knows quite a lot about what goes on, who are the goodies and the badies, I think he particularly liked your Avatar.
