What do you think?
It is quite clear that Porty and I are the same "person". I can't say everyone knows so but there are enought clues, avatar, if you look at Porty's profile the email address is steve.mcintyre....

Apart from that, before I registered as Stephen McIntyre I got Porty to write to each moderator and ask permission to use two usernames. Each gave me permission, presumably because my second name was my real name. I did this because I wanted to be personally responsible for what I say in this important debate.

Its a quite different scenario from someone using multiple names to converse with "themselves" to give creedence to arguments or statements.

Since registering with the forum on 8th March I have made 12 posts under my user name, and none under any other user name. This will be my 13th post, and my last, because I think there is bullying and intimidation going on here and I want nothing further to do with it.
So the bullies win again?

I can confirm that, to my knowledge, no-one has as yet contacted the moderators with an official complaint. If and when they decide to do so the matter will be taken very seriously and action taken as deemed necessary.

Keir,I notice you "think" as opposed to providing any evidence. There is a mechanism for complaints, you could use it.

You proclaimed that "you want ALL the answers" and yet when you were asked a question, ignorance was your chosen response.

I fear the truth is more along the lines of:

"I am being asked some tough questions here. After stating that our "councillors are good" I was asked why I therefore did not believe their analysis of alternative options?"

This placed me in an awkward spot. I tried ignorance but people kept reminding me to answer the question. I'm falling on my sword. I'm out of here.

Moi - the honest truth

I don't understand all the curiosity about Moi's identity - It's Miss Piggy - although how she got onto this forum is anyones' guess!

So multiple identities are :
only permitted with prior consent from the Administrators.
...but what if it's one of the Administrators who wants to have one?

I have moved this here so that it can be answered away from the PHS thread

Regarding the rediculous IP address thing.

Should we "take action" ,(Mods) against all those who use/appear to use the same IP address or use the same computer at the library or in someones home or at an internet cafe?

Whether or not they hold the same point of view.

Or take action against groups of people who use one person to promote their views?

What action will be taken?

How can this be fairly assessed?

If she is correct then all well and good. I thought Moi's lampooning of the initial reppier (sp) post was top quality a truly outstanding post. So good that it makes me question Gemini's "outing". :D

Not that the reappier idea in itself is all bad but the initial post was so up itself it deserved a trashing. Which is what it got.
I spoke to the office of the Information Commissioner a few weeks ago on an unrelated matter. They confirmed that if one simply states that two posts on an internet forum are coming from the same computer then no personal information has been divulged - unless you actually give out the IP address of the posts - so it isn't a Data Protection matter.

So Gemini is not breaking any laws by saying that user "Bob Jefferson" and user "Moi" are the same.

My personal opinion on the pier project is that the possibility would exist for difficulty if one were of the view that the school project should not go ahead because it would spoil the veiw, but that the pier project should go ahead - because what would you say if the same people who didn't want their view of the park spoiled also didn't want their view of the entire beach spoiled? Far too easy to say that there used to be a pier. Anyway, I think further discussion of that project belongs in the correct thread, but this comment was merely in response to your mention of the pier.

I'm happy to confirm that you don't need to question Gemini's outing, but I take your point - there's vast untapped satirical talent there.

It's a fair point. The truth is that if I wanted to use an alter-ego then I would have to present my case the same as everyone else. And I can assure you that I get cut less slack than your average poster.

Pretentious, moi? Pas du tout.

Do you think we should have a schoolboy french thread where we attempt to hold a conversation en francais? Or maybe a latin thread for the public schoolboys?

I'm seeking refuge in the G&TT forum for a while as it's getting a bit unpleasant on the 'serious' forum. Plus you get to go off at tangents without the mods moving and deleting your posts.

My Latin teacher may be disappointed to learn that despite having a Higher in this subject the only things I remember are the rather pathetic 'joke' I made earlier and the amateur film he showed us as a bona fide (ok, and the odd phrase) Loch Ness Monster spotter. He used to spend his holidays camped on the banks of the loch hoping to catch a glimpse of the beastie and he had his own rather grainy footage of what he claimed was an encounter with Nessie.

May I draw your attention to posting guideline number two, Mr Jefferson? Unless of course you would care to elaborate on the quantifiable differences between schoolboy French and schoolgirl French.

Honestly - let the boys play football together and see what happens.
