Talking of lemon and fish, I had a lovely bit of trout laced with coriander and lemon last night - from the fishmonger in Musselburgh (the one at the harbour)Mate of Marya wrote:Tuna sandwich and a Lemsip

Bozzy is nice, but shame about his outfitDadaist wrote:That's Bozzy the bear, by the way.teddygirl wrote:Tigger seems to have got himself confused with one of the bears from Goldilocks and is saying "who's been eating my yoghurt ?"
Did you know that Hibs are going up to my home town to play Huntly FC later in the year ? Prepare to be tanked
I'm not a Hibby. It was a present from my dad for Neo-Dadaist. My dad is most definitely a Hibby.teddygirl wrote:Bozzy is nice, but shame about his outfitDadaist wrote:That's Bozzy the bear, by the way.teddygirl wrote:Tigger seems to have got himself confused with one of the bears from Goldilocks and is saying "who's been eating my yoghurt ?"![]()

Want to go one further than the baby-gro? My mate has his baby son's name on a brick at Ibrox
Scotland's finest came up with the goods for me this morning.
After a failed attempt at the sausage, cheese and beans pie, Greggs have hit paydirt with the sausage and beans pastie (76p, two for £1.40)
Beautiful texture, perfect for a late breakfast or early lunch, bean consistency near perfect (a bit mushy, especially nice when married with both textures of inner and outer pasty pastry), enough processed sausage chunks to satisfy yet not overwhelm.
I was lucky with my timing - the temperature was perfect, but this is a product of such class that it would be delicious lukewarm too - and if one is especially hungry or doesn't mind cold beans - at any temperature sans piping-hot (problematic due to the heat-retention of the sauce).
Easily 10/10 - have one today, or two while the offer lasts.

Heart attack city
Anyone on long-term indigestion medication should take heed if they have forgotten their tablet on the same morning as greedily wolfing down one of Greggs' fine offerings.
They may feel ill effects approximately one hour later, which could lead to a grudgingly expensive purchase of Gaviscon Advance. (£3 odd for a wee bottle)

Its no co-incidence that there's a chemist shop near every bakery : )Dadaist wrote:Anyone on long-term indigestion medication should take heed if they have forgotten their tablet on the same morning as greedily wolfing down one of Greggs' fine offerings.

Cleopas
Mozzarella, Tomato, Basil and Pesto Baguette from Boots, sitting outside
shame I had to come back to the office though
Yesterday, I took the day off from work and we went for lunch at Amicus Apple in Frederick Street (used to be Victoria & Albert) very cool bar (both in looks and air conditioning!) we sat outside and pretended we were on holiday
Food nice too - pitta with dips (houmous, tapenade, romesco, cheese and spinach), salmon platter - rillettes, hot smoked, smoked salmon - chunky brown bread and rocket salad with slivers of lemon - delish. Also chunky chips and chili relish - washed down with a pint/wine or two. Recommend it.

Lunch today at work was a 70's throwback to celebrate the building being 30 years old. Designed by Sir Basil Spence (Scottish Widows glass one opposite the Commie), it's one of his better ones.....I've seen some of the others!
For 50p, I could have had a choice of Macaroni Cheese and Chips, Mince and Tatties, or a selection of tray-bake pies with Chips and Veg - probably picking 70's style canteen food as a way of marking the occasion was not such a good idea
, especially considering the weather.
I had a salad instead, which unfortunately was still noughties prices, not seventies.

Cleopas
I had Cannae Get Movin' soup. It's a very thick broth you could stand a spoon up in ... and you eat as much as you like to get to the point where the name of the soup becomes rather obvious.
My mother (aka Stalin in a Skirt) says it's a very old recipe which goes back to the ancestral homelands.
Thank the lord I go back to work on Monday and can bugger off to the shops for something really unhealthy!
