Walk the Walk - Moonwalk - 24 June 2006
We're set for a walk this Wednesday night actually.Marya wrote:How's the training going you two?
We're going to have to get serious about working on our speed now. I got my sponsorship forms in the post tonight as if I needed a reminder that it's getting closer.
Hopefully, when the clocks change in a couple of weeks, we'll do more during the week in the evenings.
Fancy coming along again sometime? Our last hike was good fun, wasn't it?
We could always let them lap usMarya wrote:Excellent fun. However, think it might be best if I stick to sponsoring you. I don't do speed.ecm wrote:We're going to have to get serious about working on our speed now.

Enough of your nonsense - get back to the Play Pen!
Looking forward to it - ditto about getting speed/miles up as June will be here before we know itecm wrote:We're set for a walk this Wednesday night actually.Marya wrote:How's the training going you two?

Today Sandra and I met up with about a dozen other "moonies" for a walk that took us from Joppa to Leith and back.
The weather was lovely and, apart from the horrendous stench as we passed Seafield, our walk was very enjoyable.
We've managed to do a few walks of around the 10 mile mark recently and have even started going to aerobic classes in order to be in peak condition for the main event.
Whilst we have concerns about
a) being able to go the distance of 26.2 miles
b) if we'll manage to complete it within our goal time of 7 hours
c) how we'll combat the waves of tiredness that are sure to hit as we walk through the wee small hours
d) walking the streets of Edinburgh in our bras
The major hurdle will undoubtedly be getting through a Saturday night without alcohol as it is strictly verboten.
Help!!

You can jazz up your bras by advertising (in bold colours) your charity of choice on them. e.g. ... If it's was the Heart Foundation ... do a heart on both or on one and on the other, either the name or initials.
Or you could have attachments like hooks and tie helium filled balloons to them, again with your charity's name on them.
Dyeing them assorted colours is good too. Or painting targets with words "Aim Here" for cameras.

ECM and I completed our long training walk today, very nice it was too (in bits) we started at Joppa and walked to Crammond and back via various cycle paths, I'm now nursing a throbbing calf and a t-shirt tan
Weirdest thing ever our hands sort of swelled up, my fingers were like walls sausages
is this normal or do I have bad circulation or something

1. re ribbon: Don't really want it back unless you can't see yourself using it for something else in future or can't find it another good home. Epy might take it for the school?Sandra wrote:Do you want the stuff I took back, if I don't use any of it?? Hope you enjoyed!
2. Yes, I did enjoy the vino very much. Have had a few more bottles of it since, in fact! Ta!
"It is not as if there will be a gaggle of people walking through the city making a noise."
hahahahahahhahahahahahahaha..................ahem.
hahaha
oh dear.
*cough*
sorry.
EDIT - of course thanks to the link above not now taking you to the original story in The Scotsman the whole thing doesn't make any sense at all - suffice to say the original story quoted a Moonwalk spokesperson as saying that not much noise would be generated by 8000 women in bras walking the streets of Edinburgh in the early hours. A triumph of positive thinking surely!!
