"Copped off" Is that a mancunian expression? They have another one ...."fetching yourself off"......it makes me squirm when I hear it.

I first heard of that phrase in Liverpool, when I went for an interview at Liverpool University. There was a sign advertising a disco.

It said:

Student Union Disco
Tonight
8.30 - 12.00
COME AND COP OFF.

It quite tickled me.

I agree, 'fetching yourself off' sounds a bit... er... one handed.

I got all nostalgic when I saw that phrase...the copping off one, I mean... It is indeed a frequently used phrase back home. Never heard the other one though :? .

Sandra, I don't know if you had to pay a deposit or anything based on numbers, but if you did, just tell me and I'll cough up.

JP.
Sorry to hear you can't make POL Curry JP. :( Still there is always the Burns Night Porty and Dadaist are organinsing in the New Year :D

There's been a suggestion that we meet in the Foresters for a pre-meal drink instead of the Ass.
Would those who said they'd be up for a drink first be happy with that?

Does not bother me to be honest. Lounge or bar, left or right? What kind of time we talking? I am currently trying to decide whether to work later and come straight or go home and come back :P

I've never been in the Foresters before so just wherever will be quieter or easier to find folks. I shall go along for about 7.00pm.
I think Sandra, Bearcub, Poppy and Porty are up for a drink first too?

Any others?
