But progress seems to be being made with the Thai take-away in the former gents clothes shop next to Acorn. That's been a lengthy refurbishment.
"Former gents clothes" - PoP, Portly and Mr Poppy were talking about
Debonair on Friday. Seems they bought their flares there!!!

I didn't know Mr Poppy lived in Porty when he was younger.
Be good to get Thai takeaway.
Mr Poppy has lived here all his life [52 years]. Was house captain of Crichton and a top rugby player!!!

That's how I've known Portly and PoP for a few years too.

I made use of the new computer shop at Fishwives Causeway yesterday and got a very good, friendly service. It's called D.A.T.A. As I'm a bit of a computer donkey, it's good to know they're there.

Well, had a good neb through the door of the new shop next to Lisa Leslie [opp the surgery] as I passed just now and am pleased to make a report:
decor: cream walls and wooden flooring
style: spacious with open shelf units
goods: kitchen stuff - pastel kettles, wooden wooden-spoon holders and so on.
They are still setting out the goods.........

Nice shop very chic. Mixture of stuff - cups and saucers, kettles, coffee pots, soap, jewellery, bags, make up bags/wash bags, slippers, baby clothes, furry bags etc. Hope they do well.

I popped into the new shop today too. Great potential once they build up their stock. Nice people too - although the name's a bit of a mouthful. Hope they do really well and encourage others to the area. Anybody know what the one next to the dolls house shop is going to be yet? I noticed it was painted the same colour as the one at this end (which probably means absolutely nothing and I really don't know why I mentioned it

)

Noticed they were working on it today, no idea what its going to be though. Also noticed Forrester is now closed for food as the franchisee left with NO notice.

Went into La Vie En Rose today, very nice.
I think I successfully paved the way for one of the grown-ups to punt the Business Directory to the nice lady.

Notice in window of Maria Curie shop [ex-Kirkwood] that Sidney Devine is opening the shop at, I think, 11 am next Thursday.............. I'm now doubting the date

but don't want to waste the time I've taken to type this. Anyone verify?
Will try to remember to check tomorrow on the way home.

I suppose we should, um, cover this momentous occasion for Porty posterity. Get a photo perhaps, or interview him? PoP, as a fan perhaps you could oblige? I have a more pressing engagement that particular day, whenever it is.

Sorry Bob - I would be to overcome with emotion to speak.

Steak n Kidney performed a blistering three song set which left fans reeling and yelling for more before cutting the ribbon on Portobello's latest new charity shop this morning.
Allegedly.

Was that Bob standing outside a charity shop on Portobello High Street at 10.55 am Thursday morning with his autograph book and camera in hand?
