Just to give you more of a headache, what about Shakespeare's 18th sonnet:

Shall I compare thee to a summer's day?

Thou art more lovely and more temperate:

Rough winds do shake the darling buds of May,

And summer's lease hath all too short a date:

Sometime too hot the eye of heaven shines,

And often is his gold complexion dimm'd;

And every fair from fair sometime declines,

By chance or nature's changing course untrimm'd;

But thy eternal summer shall not fade

Nor lose possession of that fair thou owest;

Nor shall Death brag thou wander'st in his shade,

When in eternal lines to time thou growest:

So long as men can breathe or eyes can see,

So long lives this and this gives life to thee.

Or is too obvious?

Have you headed off to York yet then Wangi? Starting to regret all the things you've done to your poor unsuspecting mates in the past are you? :D

Not decided yet... And yeah, off to York on the 1600 train - so just about to pack.

Ever wondered what I'd look like in a dress, yeah... I'm worrying too!

Really liked this one... But looking at it again, and while searching the 'net it appears to be a favourite to use in funeral readings... where someone's committed suicide!

So, the first reading (decided yonks ago) is "Chapter One of One Thousand" by OJ Preston... And I think "A Little Love" by Edward J Wright for the 2nd.

Thanks again everyone, forms going in tomorrow...

Well, got a phone call from the police in York an hour or so ago - no need to go down tomorrow to the police station to "report in" from bail and see if charges were going to be made... (had to report in to Portobello Police Station last week).

... "Insufficient evidence"

Full(er) story - myself, the best man and my brother were arrested on the Friday night of my stag do. Spent 20 hours in jail and released on bail. What for? "Assault and Affray". Never mind the fact it was us three that were injured (my face was a right mess), or no punches were thrown.

Bouncer's story was that "Scot #1" (my brother) was trying to leave the club with a glass in hand, refused to return it, bouncer then pushes him down steps, "Scot #1" returns and pushes his glasses off his face. "Scot #2" then jumps on his back and punches his ribs. Both restrained. "Scot #3" (me) then attempted to talk to bouncer to get his friends up - refused to leave and was restrained...

... Restrained as in a bouncer sitting on top of me while another bouncer kicked the shit out of my face. I've no recollection of the 20 minutes between protecting my face and getting a kick in the back of the head until being in the police wagon.

All I saw was the best man on the ground. Two of my other friends watched it all and their statement bears little resemblance to the bouncers - no punching, no jumping, no pushing of glasses... Just my brother shouting after he'd been pushed down the steps. Remember the guy in Aberdeen that died when he was pushed down stairs by bouncers - not as many steps in this case (only 3!), but onto a main road outside the bus station...

Police did manage to get the CCTV for inside & outside... So I guess they saw a bunch of drunk guys bouncing off the walls... But no punches and certainly no "Scot #2" doing an impression of riding a Bucking Bronco!

20 hours in a cell... Certainly makes the honeymoon flights look easy-peasy!

York is a dangerous place to go in of a night. Glad you got off, not that you actually did anything.

What a shame that you will always have this bad memory of your stag Wangi :( Just as well it was a couple of weeks before the wedding photies :wink:

Nightmare!!

You must be so angry about it all and, as you say, things could have been even worse.

Bet you're glad you had that weekend well ahead of the big day.

That's great that you didn't have to go back down there.

Remind me to buy you a pint.

Glad to hear that you've not been charged Wangi. Not nice having that prospect hanging over you when instead you should be looking forward to the big day. Here's hoping all goes smoothly now.

Put me down for the third :D

I love York but I hate to hear a story like this. We usually wait untill we are on the train home before we have drinky poos, definitely seems like a safer option now.( not that we ever overdo it of course)

York is an absolutely mental place. The doorstaff in most establishments resemble the Neanderthals that used to populate doors elsewhere in the country throughout the 70's. The last stag I was on in York ended with a hospital trip for the best man due to the same sort of thing. They want shooting (I don't mind if it's by the Police).

In the afternoon the town is a lovely twee little place where you can sit down by the river and have a relaxing pint of best bitter. At night you are just 3 or 4 wrong words away from a kicking. I was down last week and had a brilliant time and although never close to being in trouble, I also felt that I have to keep my 'Staying Alive Radar' switched on!

Hope you are healing well. :occasion5:
