Excellent work, I can see this being used as a template for future dental threads. i don't know how much more I can take, I'm beginning to go numb. I try to keep my mind wide open to new ideas but this thread need an injection of tougher material. It has lost a bit of bite.Dadaist wrote:I'm sure you guys are sitting laughing at this and think it's a gas, but I am thinking of getting this thread pulled. That would be an act of wisdom.
I also think that all these threads which end in a punfest should be amalgamated and then deposited somewhere safe.
Red Giant
I claim first use (by default) of "amalgam" and "pull/extract" since you were no doubt composing your post at the same time as me.Porty wrote:3!!!
I feel we are really getting to the root of the problem now, I was beginning to think things were starting to go rotten. This is turning into an amalgam of obtuse dental refernces and it is getting more and more difficult to swallow. Do you think you will be able to extract many more without too much pain?
But I also need to apologise for my use of "filling" at 10.49 when you had in fact claimed this pun at 9.25.
I beg to differ. Amalgam is not the same as amalgamated, extract is not the same pull. But I like composing. Anyway the last thing we should do is fall out, there should be no bad blood between us. Your argument is toothless but I'm going to bite my tounge, bud.Dadaist wrote:I claim first use (by default) of "amalgam" and "pull/extract" since you were no doubt composing your post at the same time as me.Porty wrote:3!!!

BTW my 3 was intended for MoM. Unfortunately I left a gap.

I thought the Red Giant had done for us all (well me plus 3 magnoliettes) this morning.
we were passing by its portals when a numptie in Culdaff Construction lorry on the opposite side of the road reversed into a car coming down St Marks Place. He then proceeded to due a U-turn, brushing his bumper past us as we strolled along.
Then his ducts stored on top of the wagon rolled over with the camber of the road, forming a veritable jousting weapon that then struck the 'for sale / to let' sign right in the middle, bringing it crashing down behind us.
'sorry' he said, as he jumped out to cross the road to see what damage he had inflicted on the car.
we walked on, unsquished, but with slight staining to the nether regions...

Every Day Counts
It was partly my fault although the driver should have stopped at a zebra. My attention was drawn by the sight of the first freightliner lorry I had seen. This was shortly after the terminal opened. I was watching the lorry instead of the road and unfortunately ran straight in front of the car. I was badly shaken but not seriously injured, a minor cut on the head I think. The poor driver was devastated and two days later he arrived at the house with a gift for me: subbuteo. Which seemed like a great deal to me.
