I needed something loud and aggressive to express my feelings about having spent nine days in Dundee.

That's one mental, metal playlist, BB.
But, yes, Dundee might well do that to a gal.

Was walking past the Viper Room last weekend, just on the corner from the hotel we were in... and I was thinking that name rings a bell? Wasn't till I was on the phone reading an article about Johny Depp (who used to own it I gather) than it clicked into place!
EDIT: of course, not on a
phone - on a
plane!

Fantastic, Bearcub - so you have that in a format that can be...erm...shared? I only ever had it on vinyl and really (hint) miss it. Really really miss it. (hint hint...)
Was a bit of a grungy rock chick in my youth.
Last year. *cough*
All I really need is love, but a little chocolate now and then doesn't hurt!

Anyone going to buy/download the new Kate Bush album? I've read rave reviews.

I might give it a whirl.
There's a big piece/interview with her in this month's Mojo which I've still to read. Should be entertaining seeing as she's a bit mad and all.

I know she's meant to be real trendy, but I'd rather listen to someone run their fingernails down a blackboard

I have that reaction to Alanis Morrisette and Sheryl Crow. I don't even have to hear them sing to feel that way, in fact.
I do like Kate and her voice though and am off to have listen to the new one right now.

The funniest thing I've heard on the radio for a while was last week when Steve Wright's "ask Elvis" character did "Wuthering Heights"

Disc 1 -Track 2 - Pi
Verse
Oh he love, he love, he love
He does love his numbers
And they run, they run, they run him
In a great big circle
In a circle of infinity
Chorus
3.1415926535 897932
3846 264 338 3279
50288419 716939937510
582319749 44 59230781
6406286208 821 4808651 32
It's taken her 12 years to come up with that. Mind you, it would take me that long to memorise it.
Quality stuff!

I'm listening to the Arrow at the moment and they are playing "Silver Machine" by Hawkwind. It is right up there in my top 3 least favourite records in the whole world.

and tonight on Channel 4, for any Who fans out there:
11.40pm The Who: Behind Who's Next
The band discuss the making of their 1971 album, which featured classic songs Won't Get Fooled Again and Behind Blue Eyes, alongside elements from Pete Townshend's abandoned sci-fi rock opera Lifehouse. With archive footage of the tracks being performed.

I cannot abide The Who. I shared a room at Uni with a guy that really liked them. It was murder, only stood it for two years.

Now they are playing "Chug all night" by the Eagles. Slightly more acceptable.

Although I like The Who, that sounds like... torture.
I shared a flat with a girl at college who listened to Elvis and nothing else. It drove me mad. Took me about 8 years before I could appreciate The King again.

When I shared a flat we only had two albums to start with - one was The Cars and the other was Bat Out of Hell

We later upgraded to The Police and Adam and The Ants.....
Enough of your nonsense - get back to the Play Pen!

Here's a taste:
"Chug All Night"
You scare me a bit,
but that's all right
you know when I want you
most every night
And I've been meaning to tell
you baby that it makes no sense
still I'm finally convinced
yeah yeah
I believe we could chug all night
I believe we could hug all night
The band is loose and the groove
is right you're so much woman I
believe we could chug all night
On the day that I die, well
I just might scream
If I'm alive in the morning
Ill be alive in a dream
You better listen to me baby
Cause you know that I'm hung on you
till I'm blind and black and blue
No one else will do
I do believe we chug all night
I believe we could hug all night
The band is loose and the groove is right
You're so much woman I believe
we could chug all night
No woman ever do what you do.........
......I believe we could chug all night
I said a yeah yeah yeah
yeah yeah
Woo! It's only midnight baby
Come on and do it to me
Eh? "Cause you know that I'm hung on you
till I'm blind and black and blue "
Wonder if "she" is a buffalo?

Moving on in time now though, and taking advantage of my refugee status from the dancing programme (compulsory viewing for all magnoliettes, magnoliettes' mothers and grandmothers - ooh, I REALLY like that dress...)
Anyway Darren Gough impresses me most.
BUT earlier today it was a quick snort of the Who - 5:15, just to annoy Porty, and continuing the vinyl theme for the spare 25.67 minutes that I had, it was 808 State and EX:EL.. Now when on earth DID I buy a more up to date record thingy?....

And talking of the Eagles...
and bearing in mind Foxy's worries about 1976...
Did anyone else here go to Wembley stadium in 1976 to see the whatever it was called day of summer music? Eagles were there, as was Joe Walsh in his pre-Eagles days, Beach Boys in their, er, past their prime but still sounding good if you like more than one or two songs that sound like that days, and also Elton John in his 'I've still got some hair' days. Oh and a bunch of others too - Rufus/Chaka Khan, Stackridge and more.
Eagles blew them all off the stage. Made a big impression on my very young life!

Didn't go to that Gig Mr M but I was certainly into the Eagles at that stage.
Don't quite know why I dislike the Who as much as I do? If I came home from work to find them playing an improptu gig in my back garden, I'd draw the blinds, put earplugs in and go to bed.
