No problem!

Put up a gallery of shots of Tantallon Castle today, and this one of the Bass Rock Lighthouse:

Super photos (as usual Wangi ) of Tantallon Castle.
My other half's Grandmother was the housekeeper at Tantallon in the early 1900's , she became pregnant by the Lord or Laird (what ever he was called in those bygone days) of the Castle and was dismissed from service :( and had to leave to have her son elsewhere. My husband, who only found all this out after his Dad had died has always said, with great affection I might add, that he always thought his Dad was an old "b******* :)
How old would you be, if you didn't know how old you are?

Excepting that then, as now, no matter how hot, I always keep my vest on.
And my big pants.

I do have a gob on to match hers though, don't I?

Anyone else with old pictures of Portobello? Dig through those photo albums, speak to elderly neighbours. I'm sure there must be lots more out there.

I know this is not an old photo of Portobello - however, it does show Porty in the snow!

Yes, it's the top of Marlborough Street. We get great views of the Porty rooftops - one of the reasons I bought the place! :D

Epykat, it's the top of Marlborough looking on to the back of Regent Street and all the wee lanes. Does this now make more sense now? :D

Can you remember when you took this picture? If it's when I think it is - although I was not, and never had lived in Porty at that time, and nor had my friend, he was probably on one of those ships!

Oh, that's a shame. I think it's a wee bit too late. I'll check, but I think the flotilla he was on was about 1979/80. I was thinking of mailing him the photo, if it had been the right one. (He was in Toronto in the early 1970's too!)

Um, no. This is 'Alix' - no relation. I'm sure Alex is still out there somewhere though and I share your sentiments about 4 Dec.

Great pictures again, Wangi! I think I maybe saw you yesterday on the prom just briefly taking these photos then disappearing - around 11.30am. Was that you? I was with Mr DG and baby Isla. Or am I mistaken again :(

Been doing a fair bit of night photography the past few weeks - that's all at: http://www.pbase.com/wangi/night

Managed to get a daytime Portobello Beach shot today... Ok, it is an arty-farty B&W, but hey!

There is a picture framing business recommended to me as being reasonable behind the Brunton Hall. I've used them once so far. I thought the Gallery prices were a bit steep too.

Me too! The frame usually cost more than the picture inside! But I was trying to support a local business, and the people there were very nice, too.
