Bob, Hawkeye took time to put together a well meaning, well thought out post relating to the future of POL. You believe people are deliberately getting at you. Your considered response to Hawkeye was to ignore all of the good points that he made. Then take one sentence from his post, that happens to be personal to you and you quote it out of context. I don't think you are helpinig your issue.

What bandwagon are you referring to? And who are you accusing of jumping on it?

Lets face it you can hardly blame Bob for taking a lot of what has been said personally. Maybe he was trying to lighten the mood of this ever so contentious thread and I for one thought it was funny...or shouldn't i say that in case I'm considered silly and shallow...look at my face do I look bovvered

BTW I agree that Hawkeye put forward a very valid and well considered argument for the future running of POL by committee, which should without doubt be the foundation of a serious discussion, once Bob has licked his wounds

I was waiting with some anticipation for the announcement from Bob regarding the community website, its direction and business plan. Unfortunately, time has beaten me and I am away on holiday for a fortnight.

I look forward to the announcement on my return. No, I'm not sad enough to go to an internet cafe whilst I'm away. And please don't let the answer be 42!

C) the suggestion to make a donation to the community council from POL?

C - The LBD money (and any money raised through sponsorship) is ring-fenced for the promotion of Portobello Online, as previously stated.

B)meanwhile, could you please remove the RBOS logo etc, until we can have a full discussion with whomever takes decisions on corporate sponsorship of this community website.

C) I would like to question the basis on which these monies have been "ringfenced". Money is a very sensitive issue, particularly money that is raised in the guise of a community based organisation. The amount of money raised by the BD is significant, amounting to around 25% of the entire community councul annual expenditure.

At present we have a very relaxed process, which is open to critiscism. Upwards of Â£1000 has been "ringfenced" for promotion of the site by the purchasing of some gadgets. Is this really the best use of the money raised and how was this determined?

Bob, you need to get the distinction between Porty, a forum member and The Mortgage People, a business. As a business we are very happy with our Â£20 investment in the business directory, we particularly like the way that each business gets an opportunity to be on the front page. Value for money.

As Porty, I do not believe anyone has been "mis-led" or that there has been any impropriety. I am questioning the process used to decide how money is spent. Not as a "trouble maker" as you earlier suggested but as someone who is concerned that a substantial sum of money, that I presume belongs to the Community Council is being controlled and spent by one person. I do not think this is good custom and practice,whether that person is you, me, gemini, dada, dakota, poppy or Pal of Porty, whom i would trust with my life. I would like to see something more formal, transparent and accountable. A business plan would be good too.

I'm not blaming you for the way it is, this is your baby and it has grown beyond your expectation. It is not surprising that you want to hang on to the reigns and no-one is questioning your comittment. Its just that POL has become a bigger entity with substantial cash assets and it needs a support structure, so do you. Would you like a hand?

The RBOS issue is another matter. Can you take the logo down until a proper, open discussion takes place?
