Local venue for a buffet?

Post by Makaveli » 23 May 2010, 09:09

Hi,

Hope someone here can help.

We are getting our daughter christened and a few family and friends will be coming over for the occassion so we though we would have a lunch buffet. Can anyone recommend anywhere in Porty/Joppa or surrounding area that would be able to hold such an event?

Thanks

M.

The Dalriada? I know they rent out the rooms on the right as you come in for functions. Don't know if they organise the catering as well , but would be worth asking.

The Masonic Lodge (226 Club) in Figgate Street is a great hall for small gatherings. Cheap bar but you have to do your own catering. The Elwyn in Moira Terrace is great too, they have a lovely conservatory and they do the catering.
Enough of your nonsense - get back to the Play Pen!

My friend held a birthday party for his Dad in the Dalriada last weekend and they provided a buffet for them. Not sure of prices etc....

I believe the room booking is free in the Dalriada, and the buffet is charged per person. Also being a bar, you can make sure the baby's head gets suitably wet.

Another option might be the Rockville Hotel?

Thanks for all the responses.

We are going with the Dalriada as the proximity to the church and our house means that there is no need for any vehicles to move anyone back and forth.

The room is indeed free and the buffet starts at 5.50 a head for anyone else who might be interested.

Well had the Christening yesterday and it was excellent and the buffet at the Dalriada was brilliant too - the staff were very good and we had a nice couple of rooms to ourselves which was great.

I would highly recommend them for any small gathering's you may have.
