Twerp

Post by Porty » 26 Jun 2010, 10:29

What a great and rarely used word Twerp is. I recall it from comics (Dennis The Menace)?. I love hearing some words I haven't heard for ages.

Civer.
Meaning drain, not heard that for a while.

When younger I was convinced the Dr Who enemies were Civermen so wouldn't go near the drains in the road and made swimming at the deep end of the pool very scary!

I can't find out how it's spelt online, sure I've seen it like that.
I also like stooshie, stramash, howf, half an hauf.
A half loaf and going the messages also seem to be particularly east Cpast Scots, like sauce on chips.

I used to like the Zoiks! from Scooby Doo

Yup heard of dubs
We used to play peevers with an old cherry blossom tin
and a ball game called stotters or stoatters, a tennis ball thrown at a ledge and caught in different ways.

And we'd dreep off walls

For many names and words I'd half forgotten

and according to that list it's SIVER so I stand corrected
