F@$king royal mail

Post by BeachBum » 10 Apr 2009, 08:53

Tuesday morning, I get post for some woman at the other end of the street.

Thursday I get am email from the Council wanting to know why mail sent to my home address has been returned marked as not known at this address.

Today, I get post for someone else who lives along my road.

What a carry on.

With all due respect to posties surely it isnt that hard to deliver a letter when the building, doors and letters are clearly addressed.

I had this problem a while back and the manager at the delivery office gave me his assurance there would be no further problems. Clearly his assurances are worth f all.

Today, I called him 5 mins ago and says its due to a minor reorganisation with the rounds and it wont happen again. We shall see.

Does make you think, the letters ive got for other people this week could contain personal financial details, results of an aids test or anything personal. Imagine how these people would feel if I had opened these letters or even put them in the bin.

As I happens I did open a letter for someone else. I assumed that all the post delivered to me was for me, I paid no attention to the name & address on the envelope. It wasnt until I opened it and seen it was a credit card statment that I realised it wasnt mines.

Anyone else having problems I wonder?

669 3480 is the number for the delivery office round windsor place/street.

A bit like a postie looking for the correct door then?

I posted a card to my mother in law on the Monday 16th March so's it would get there for Mother's Day, It didn't arrive until until the next again week.
When i sent an email complaint I was given a link to download a form ( didn't work ) and told I had to include proof of postage.
The in laws have had bank statements given to neighbours, stuff going missing and mail taking forever to arrive for quite a while now.
The standard post office reply seems to be show us a certificate of postage! How do you do that if you only put a 1st class stamp on a letter.

Today Mr Soupy went into the post office in bath St as he has been waiting on a package. The tracking number that he viewed online claimed there had been a delivery attempt yesterday afternoon. There were 4 folk in the house most of yesterday, we had kids pals arrive, meter reader, cat coming in but NO parcel delivery.
Same had happened nearly 2 weeks ago
No card put through door either time

Im not sure about that.

In my case, my door has my number on it, my building has the block number of it, and at the start of my street there is a sign with the street name on it.

If an item is properly address then i think it comes down to stupidity on the posties part.

Beachbum, did you not consider just dropping the mail through the correct door and then advising the postie of the error? It might have saved you time, both on here and with the postal service.you never know, you might have made a new pal/lover when dropping off previously mentioned random mail.

Get over it.

Btw, my postie is not only brand new, he's brand new!

Whoever has been getting my post hasnt been putting it through my door but returning it to sender. I know this because mail from CEC has been returned to them.

So no, I didnt consider delivering the mail. It got put back in the post box for royal mail to sort out their problem.

Im sure things will improve once this new postie finds his feet.

Normally I do put wrong mail through the relevant letterboxes if they are local but last week I got a dentist appointment card for someone with a similar address to mine, only it was in Eddleston ! Had to put that one back in the Post box I'm afraid

Exactly people dont always have the time or ability to go way out of teir way to deliver items of mail for the Royal Mail. I think its enough to pop it back in the post box with delivering it as an extra. I actually think alot of people wouldnt bother putting stuff back in the post box. I bet an amount ends up in the bin!
