Yes they would be paying themselves compensation. I don't think there's any chance of DC cairns campaign for compensation for the people of Portobello succeeding. As far as I know the councils revenue from its common good assets is substantially less than the cost of maintaining those assets. Seanie must be fed up repeating that councils have huge latitude when it comes to spending common good revenue. Indeed one council was taken to court for using cg funds to pay their telephone bills. The judge decided it was legitimate for them to do so. In the case of portobello park the compensation issue was first mooted by Dave connelly who declared that the council would have to pay millions. Ppag followed suit. It is total bollocks.when the school is built it will stand on land that is still held in the councils common good fund as a result the value of that fund wil be unaffected . Compensation is for a loss. A condition of building phs on the park is the replacement of the amenity and usage in the local area. Theefore there will be no loss to the citizens of Edinburgh. There's no argument for financial compensation on a lost revenue basis either. The park produces revenue from golf and football this will be unaffected. Not for the first time ppag have misrepresented the truth and/or consequences. They are forever protesting they are not dim. I'm not convinced.

The bench in the Park- senior ppag bods have been observed sitting on the bench and deeking at the park. I wonder if it is a memorial bench? There's nothing on their website about it. However, if a ppag supporter has passed away I apologise for being flippant. - it is more likely to be a ruse about sky line policy. - maybe a claim that Arthur seat could previously be viewed from the bench! Sounds mental I know but it is possible. Curious indeed!

I did notice another bench in the dog fouling (sorry, walking) area so it may be new as well. I imagine it's all part of the plan to make it look as though the park is more attractive and popular than it actually is.

It's the cherry on top of the dog turd.

Oh yeah, I never noticed that when I looked at it when it was first posted.
