First time I was aware of the BCR was some graffiti on a wall in a little lane that ran from Stanley Street to what is now FE Macdonalds yard. I was looking at the on-line EN and there's a story about Les McKeown (as an aside I am amazed he is ony 53). To the right of the story is a listof previos EN stories on the BCR- and there's more. Here's the headlines from page 1:
Bay City Roller Les McKeown's gay sex romps revealed to wife on TV
Tam Paton released on bail after 'drug dealing' arrest
Paton held on drugs charges
Roller Nobby honoured for green work
John's quiet life till son became a Bay City Roller
Ex-Rollers manager is cleared on rape claims
Paton's ex is arrested after street clash
Pair in knife threat against ex-band boss
No screams, no tears.. but it's still Rollermania all over again
Former Roller ready to sue ex-bandmates over royalties claims
Bay City Rollers start legal battle to claim royalty payments
Welcome to Tam Paton's weird world
Ex-Rollers manager fined £20k over drugs charges
Three in court over raid on Paton mansion
Paton robbery: three charged

Similar story here - only the graffiti was on the gable wall of the houses facing the sea as you come in to Musselburgh.
But I did always have a soft spot for Les...showing my age now! Gay sex romps - well, there you go. Sounds rather jolly.

This is like one of those Chris Evans lists of obscure connections to celebrities (and I use that term loosely). Think Kipling who posts on here went to the same school as Woody and once had an English textbook that his name on it. Or did I just make that up?

There's several BCr connections here as Pat Quinn lived in Magdalene, he was a member after one of the bust ups. The drummer, Alan?, who later got a minor conviction for child sex issues, was one of the joiners who helped build our miller home in mountcastle.

Alan Longmuir was the bassist
It was his brother Derek that faced the charges of child porn
I had their autographs
Got them at a FAB 208 promotion party, the Rollers were there as a local talent, well before Rollermania

You are right- longmuir - I ought to have remembered that, sure there was an officer in the 25th called longmiur. And Mrs lornie of course. What's up were a sort of spin off band of the bcr, pat Quinn was a member and my pal Brian Spence from the Christians was also a member. It was the old story: they had a minor hit here and were mobbed when visiting Japan! Crazy.

My wife used to live two doors along from them when she lived in Prestonpans. She used to go and watch them practice before they became famous. There is one of their LP records with all their signatures in our attic.
