your worst holiday destination

Post by Porty » 13 Nov 2008, 23:27

Mine is Las Vegas - I'm probably in a minority. I disliked it when I first visited in 1981 - I had a relapse and returned in 2002 for 3 nights. - we lasted just 1. I don't know why I went back.redemption came in the form of the grand canyon on both trips

I've only passed through Las Vegas and I was quite happy doing that. I suppose my biggest disappointment was San Francisco - not that awful, just foggy, stank of pee round Union Square and didn't live up to my expectations at all. Didn't help that we stayed in a district called the Tenderloin, which turned out to be a no go area for the police and taxis at night. Biggest surprise was how much I loved Yosemite and Grand Canyon. They blew me away!

Worst holiday destination of all was probably Kardamena in Kos with my sister and 7 year old nephew - rained all the time and because the only form of heating was solar we had no hot water. Had to retreat to crappy bars showing poorly copied bootleg films. The journey back was also a nightmare.

Forgot to add Marbella and Puerto Banus to my list of 'must miss' holiday destinations.
